"You're a scrub for using your Ult"

Why do people get so mad when they lose to an ult in a duel? Even when the ult was spent before it began to start at 0% ult? Not the first time I've seen people say this.

The guy that said this was just IG spamming Ward dancing around daedric mines.

People like to blame ANYTHING but themselves when they lose. Immaturity, that's all.

If you didn't agree to any specific rules beforehand, anything goes. Now, if you DID agree with a set of rules before the duel, then it's another situation entirely.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I've only seen it when someone starts off a duel with an ult. Root + Staff Ult isn't really a duel. Just take that loss to the chin and ask for a rematch.

Dueling isn't pointless if you PvP. It can be helpful to learn how to 1v1 someone, especially a class that you find difficult.

I don't duel, but I thought those that wanted to duel were more into wanting to show off their skills in their preferred class, of course if you accept a random duel request you should expect anything, but ultimate's in a duel to me sounds like a desperation win at all costs kind of move, guess there is nothing wrong with that, but does seem kind of cheap to me.

I can see all out anything goes duels and for some maybe they should agree on certain things not to be used, guess it depends you duel to win through skill, you duel to win through any means necessary, cheating exploiting broken mechanics kind of thing.

That's one way to look at it. I personally duel as a way to improve my play, by fighting top tier players of a specific class you're much more equipped to deal with said class when you encounter them open world. Its practice

This. I once was called a scrub for mopping the floor with a CP350-ish stam sorc in his obvious PvP setup, because I was a mag DK. My mag DK was about a level 10-12, definitely lower than 15 as I hadn't unlocked weapon swapping yet. People just like to cry.

    Had it happen multiple times.

Beat a guy 8 times in a row... he then won because my game lagged.
He proceeds to T bag me, do spit emote over my body. Then sends many messages insulting me.
I did no such thing in my 8 victories.
He wouldn't do a rematch and finally did, he lasted all of 10 seconds was satisfying stooping to his level and t bagging him.

After more defeats he then swaps character saying "scrub u don't stand a chance, I'm gunna expose you"
He loses again and yes the insults keep on coming. Worth noting I didn't insult him apart from calling him a sad little ***.

He then swaps character again and at that point I decline him after already beating him over 15 times with him being a nasty little person all the time.
He went overdrive rage when I wouldn't re duel him but he lurking waiting for me to lose to other people so he could t bag and insult me LOL

    Edit:
I just meant people being very immature in general over duelling.

A guy got salty cause he lost to a Meteor to a DW sorc in a duel (he was a Destro sorc). Like REAL salty. Like I've never seen anyone be that salty in this game before. Basically he let his shields go down and he had no stam so he couldn't block the 22k Shooting Star.

I have this lovely SS on my Photobucket from this Sorc, who is a severe case of Pot blaming the kettle btw, who decided to forfeit a lenghty duel. Raged at me, and t bagged me while I was standing near the wayshrine

Sadly, on my phone atm and I didn't blur the name of the guy so I can't post here atm. Maybe later ;)

I remember when I first started playing I felt like I had accomplished something because someone had to use their ult to kill me. Now I realize that a lot of builds are designed around using ult burst to kill and think nothing of it.

Starting off a duel with full ultimate and dropping it to kill the person immediately is kinda cheesy to say the least. It's not something you should do if you want a fair duel. I'm pretty sure I did it to @MissBizz once, but I wasn't interested in a fair duel at the time, I was just trying to annoy her while she was streaming o:)

Letting your ultimate build during the duel and using it once it's available isn't cheesy IMO - it's playing your build. I'd consider it to be totally fair.

I both agree and disagree with this. When talking about just dueling random people I kind of agree with the statement above. If you don't care about saltiness in the slightest and you just want to have a few duels with randoms for *** and giggles, then go for it though.

Where I don't agree with the above quote is when you're dueling with friends either as a way for both of you to practice for PVP, or just to pass time while waiting for someone or something. In those cases there's generally no epeen waving or excuses for losing fights. If there is epeen waving or excuses for losing fights when dueling with friends, then you need new friends.

Side note: I almost never duel because I have very little interest in it. Every now and then I find it fun, though.

@UrQuan said it. If you start the duel with a pre charged EoTS etc you're cheesy as heck.

Look the old school "rules" came from us pre program duelers. These "rules" came from the agreed upon terms duelers used in Cyrodiil (you know those packs you may have found randomly kinda by a keep?)

Now, however, the dueling player base has watered down to "anything" goes mentally. Pre charged ults, poisons, invisible eots (pre fix) pure troll tanks are all in full swing.

The cheesiest however is a pre charged eots and then declining any future duels.

Also the T bag thing... before duelers had to go out of there way to make sure a duel even could occur meaning players typically already had a sense of honor and respect, T bagging only occurred between friends and loved ones (lmao ah jokes...) but it was never as salty as Rawl' has become.

I still love dueling, I just no longer hold any hopes to see the honor of the past returning.

TLDR: the majority of people in general are jerks.

You always get bad losers. Recently seen quite a few. Especially on my blazpler. I never initiate a duel with her even though she's the only one I can win more than half the time with seeing how i can just spam blazing shield. Not much skill involved so can sorta see why it would be frustrating to some of my opponents. Sometimes you see someone going on a duelling frenzie tea bagging their defeated opponents (LOL) so naturally i accept the invite. Then my opponent realises they're killing themselves at which point the bad loser tends to run away and forfeit. One of them said this "nice build, shame it's not yours". I'm using the laugh emote much more hah.

Considering pretty much every combination of class + stam/mag can fully regenerate their health or put up 20k+ shields, you sort of NEED to use ultimates to kill decent players 1v1. How else do you kill a 30k heavy armor malabeth templar that can BoL himself to full health in 1 cast and purge off every negative effect you place?

Last I checked, you don't get points for "Fighting Honorably." Winning is all that matters.

If you insist on not using a game mechanic because you think it's "Cheap" or "Overpowered," all you are doing in handicapping yourself.
