If only 2H weapons counted for 2 set slots...

So many builds would be viable instead of the forced DW just to get 2 full sets and a monster set.

As for the new patch with the Ice staff tanking this will be the main deal breaker for that for me. Ice staff tanking sounds fun, but im still using a s&b for a full set.

I don't see the point of why it shouldnt be like this? Why does everyone have to run DW in PvE and S&B in PvP??

You will have to do it as others do. Monster set + 5PC on one bar + 4PC of other set that becomes 5PC on other bar. If the other bar is s&b, you will have double 5PC sets active. For example, since viper will get fixed and will not work on bow anymore, I will have viper only on my melee bar, along with tumorscale and vicecannon. And on bow bar, it will be vicecannon of venom. I am sad to retire my viper bow, spent weeks farming it... On the other hand, I might put away viper as set if it proves to be not viable anymore. If that is the case, I will use something else, maybe sheer venom or something.

There have prob been 100 threads about this over the last 3 years. I don't think zos cares, and now all we are doing is....

if only they all counted the same and we could use all the same sets on all the same builds and get all the same results and then we would all be the same and that would be just... dull.

Instead the skill lines are different and the sets count differently and so different sets are better for some and different sets are better for others and we have to choose and change to suit what we are running and what we want to get out of it and its all so... dependent on OUR choices as to what we get out of it.

    Such a shame.

Back in the days before playlists...

There was a style of RPG where the "cinematic" versions would basically observe that "in the movies and stories, weapons and gear are more often just a matter of style and differentiation - personalizing like say costuming or make-up, to help the characters stand out visually - and those decisions dont matter one whit to the character's combat effectiveness."

Why was there a purple light saber in Clones? Cuz Sam-l-Jackson wanted his daughter to see his character in the fights and she loved purple.

Chewy's laser crossbow vs blaster - who cares - they look cool.

Elves in mithril vs dwarves in hvy armor still fight just fine, right? Dwarves jump around a lot too...

So to make this happen some RPG options would basically make the "class" determine your damage and combat results regardless of weapons chosen. A "knife fighter" could do a D10 damage just like a 2H sword wielder could - exactly the same too - just the descriptions were different and "choice of weapons" was a purely cinematic just for fun choice with no consequences whatsoever.

Big spectrum of games from RoleMaster (aka ChartMaster) to Fudge and others on each side and in between explored this crunchy vs fluffy paradigm of gaming in way too much detail.

i still fondly recall one of the Rolemaster devs saying "We thought we might have gone too far into crunchy charts with the MidWifery Critical Results Chart, but no, they wanted more like that."

its nice to see the "no consequences" drive hasn't been lost in the computer age with its "all the hard crunchy fiddly bits are automated now."

I hate being forced to use DW, levelled it to 50, tried but to me the animations look over the top and silly. I still mostly use my trusty 2 hander, 5 TBS 5 sprigg and 1 Kr'agh, it feels more natural
