Thieves Guild Heist.

I am having trouble completing this within the 7 minutes, even if none of the npcs see me. I know I shouldn't have a problem as I am medium armour wearing nightblade.

Just feel that the heists are not really meant for the careful stealth play style but instead it expects players to rush around in a smash and grab.

I feel that the timer either needs to be extended or the npcs should be reduced.

In my opinion the difficulty is pretty spot on.

If you want flawless, you have to work for it but it's by no means impossible. Play it a few times just to get their patterns down, and the rest should be a matter of keeping yourself moving and being able to pick locks in a reasonable amount of time and things like that, none of which are too hard.

Anything that improves your sneak will help a lot, and Shadowy Disguise makes it 100x easier.

The hardest/most annoying part to me is where you run into a lantern carrying guy in a narrow hallway, and you have no choice but to sit there and wait for him so you can jump in the basket :pensive:

1000x this. Frustrating when you get to a section at just the right time to watch almost a full minute tick by while you sit in a basket waiting for the guards to move where you can get around them.

Overall though, seven minutes is just enough time to pull it off. There's a couple were seven minutes actually gives you just enough of a buffer that you can be spotted once and still make it in time if you're quick.

I like their difficulty, but like almost every part of ESO there are three ways to make it easy, and even though you didn't ask for advice...

Gear/build - Focus on one thing - in this case sneak speed. I know a few players who have pure stealth characters that are useless at dungeons but can make millions through thievery. In the heists I believe increased sneak speed is better than reducing detection radius.

Learn the maps/mechanics - the PVE 'hard content' in Eso isn't overcome by skill, but by memory - watch any VMA videos to see that most of the success is down to knowing what will happen next. The heist maps don't change much, so after a few failed attempts you should have a good idea where you are going, making you MUCH faster.

Groups - Team up with some other thieves and share the job (or get carried through) - I expect you could even use zone chat to hire another player for a perfect run - if they know the route you won't even have to leave the safe zone.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

Yeah I use my Vamp / Nb / WElf and do them pretty well except for the one with the 7 gems, that's the problem one that I always have cause of the infinite fire traps that i don't even notice most of the time

On a nightblade these are stupidly easy. Even on a stamblade just get a poverty spec willpower set with mag regen and witchmother regen food and you're permacloaking + Vamp and concealed weapon you'll do them all in 4 mins.

Oh and the 7 gem one. Just camp the 1st gem sack out. It respawns every 30s. Cheesy.

With the right gear and a little bit of practice (which is mostly about learning layouts and figuring out the best way to approach each of the heists) any class can consistently complete every heist before time runs out with enough of a buffer to be spotted 1-2 times.

Most of my characters use 3-piece Night Terror and 5-piece Night's Silence, while my vampire characters substitute 5-piece Night Mother's Embrace for the Night's Silence. The most important thing is to be able to sneak without a movement penalty.

Here, this wasn't really intended to be a general heist guide for people to use, it was just intended to help a friend who was having some issues with getting the chests in this particular heist. It's an example of how you can pretty easily do heists with the right gear and a little practice though.

This was on a stamina templar wearing 3-piece Night Terror and 5-piece Night's Silence. You may also notice that I've got Rapid Maneuvers slotted - I almost never end up actually using it in heists, but it's a very nice tool to have available in case you've messed up a bit and the timer's running down while you're making that final push back to the entrance.

Back when I was doing these with my slow af mag dk at first I couldn't do them at all.

I got myself some gear to sneak at normal speed and made some invisibility potions to help with getting past guards that sometimes take too long to wait out if you catch them at the wrong point in their cycle.

Then it's just a case of learning the heists. NB. To help with this you can abandon the quest and then pick it straight up again rather than completing it outside of the time limit.

I got to the point where even if I really messed up and got seen 2/3 times I could still comfortably do it in the time limit.

Thank you for the reply guys. It has given me some tips on how to improve. Going to see about some crafted armour that will increase stealth movement and invisibility potions with speed buffs. (Level 50 alchemy helps a lot.)

Definitely make some Night's Silence gear - it's only a 2 trait set, so it's very accessible for even a fairly new crafter, and the 5-piece bonus that removes the movement penalty for sneaking is crucial. You should have no problem either crafting it yourself or finding someone who can craft it for you.

I would also highly recommend going to Stormhaven and farming some Night Terror gear (it's the general overland medium armour set for the zone, so it's very easy to farm - heck, you can just do some dolmens to get 2 rings and a necklace and then you don't need any more pieces). The 3-piece bonus isn't as vital as the 5-piece bonus for Night's Silence, but still it's very handy to have the radius you can be detected in reduced, and the reduction in sneak cost is probably even more useful than that. If you've got that 3-piece bonus and you're wearing 7 pieces of medium armour with all of the passives then you have to be very close to an enemy to be detected, and you can stay in sneak practically forever without running out of stamina.

Invisibility + speed pots aren't a bad idea, but they're likely to be more situational than you may think. I find in heists it's pretty uncommon for me to end up in a situation where invisibility is all that useful. The guys who invisibility works on are usually very easy to sneak right past without invisibility. The ones who usually cause you to take some time to get by them are the ones who pop you out of stealth or invisibility.

Having said that, there are some times when you need to wait for a regular non-lantern-carrying Joe to move in order to get past them without invisibility, so the pots will be useful for that. And having the speed buff with them is definitely a good idea too, as if you don't have time to wait for them to move so you can sneak past normally, then you're going to want to move as quickly as possible anyway.

Good luck! You can do it!

I find this one of the easiest ones - the gems respawn really quickly so just turn right after the entrance and use the hiding spots and hidden caves to travel along and pick up four or so until you come to the open area (you might need to carry on a bit and go into the cave at the end on the right for the last one and is sometimes a second there that's easy to grab. Most of the time I don't tho), then head straight back towards the exit and pick up the same gems again. Works almost every time with loads to spare. I think that there's only two of the fire traps that way too so it's easy to disarm them once you learn where they are.

It helps a lot to learn where the secret short cuts are on some of them and others it's just practice. I can sometimes do them on my amazingly unstealthy magicka templar but they're mostly a breeze on my stamblade

Are there specific outfits that make you more undetectable ?
Are you talking about gear-sets or specific outfits (like pirate outfit, etc ...)
Which outfit should I use then to be more stealth?

Well, this thread is 3 years old, but your question is still a valid one, and last year's Elsweyr chapter added a new armor set that slightly changes the answers above.

Your costume has no affect on your stealth. The previous posters were surely talking about gear sets.

If you have decent speed while in stealth (by being a vampire, for example), then you might focus on reducing stealth radius. In which case, you might do:

4 pieces of Vestures of Darloc Brae, the overland medium set in Northern Elsweyr.
3 pieces of Night Terror, the overland medium set in Stormhaven.
5 pieces of Night Mother's Embrace, the overland medium set in Deshaan.
This will reduce your stealth radius by 6 meters total. I use this for my Bosmer thief, and she basically has to get into someone's face for them to see her.

If speed is a concern, you can swap the Night Mother's Embrace with crafted Night's Silence so you ignore the movement speed penalty of stealth.

There are probably better set-ups involving zany vampire powers and the Ring of the Wild Hunt, but all of the stuff you need for the above loadout is pretty easy to get.
