I've been playing this game for about a year and a half now and I just played it casually for almost 8 months. I recently hit 561 like 2 months ago and I feel like a scrub because I die a lot. I am not a good PvPer and in PvE I haven't been able to do VMA yet because I don't have a trials guild to obtain my VO. But now I have a group that does it so soon I will get what I need.

I need some tips on what I can do. I don't like complaining about balance because that never solves anything. I am terrible and anytime I log on I just want to turn it off.

It is not a gear issue because I am wearing all impenetrable and I have 60/60 into hardy/elemental defender. I have played nightblade for over a year now and I am tempted to just forget about that character. On my stamsorc I have 4 self heals, my stamdk major mending, my magicka sorcerer damage shields, templar breath of life, nightblade just a useless cloak and no damage mitigation even with mass hysteria and shadow barrier. I have never PvPed on my other characters because none of them have gear yet.

From what ive encountered most DPS nightblades come into dungeons specced with a pvp gank build.

I won't speak on PvP (I only gank on nightblades), but PvE on a nightblade is fun and interesting. Things to keep in mind:

Vigor is your best friend. I front bar it. Does that drop possible DPS? Sure, but what doesn't drop is me.

20k health is where I'm comfortable. On a bosmer, that still leaves me 32k stam. I feel better with that much health because I'll very, very rarely get one shotted.

Power Extraction > steel tornado. Steel nado does more damage, especially in execute range for sure. What Power Extraction brings to the table, though, is higher healing done, more max magic (for your siphoning attacks and relentless focus), and ultimate gain. More ultimate can save you, especially if just a couple dozen ulti from having thrive in chaos up.

Utilizing the above, my bosmer nightblade ran arx today as a duo with a magplar. 18-22k constant over each fight, and never went below 50% health. I don't use VO (very little interest in trials).

I use dw/bow with 3 aoes on my bars. Gank build is not effective enough for PvE. I have a lot of limits to what I am able to do in terms of dps. I do not have bis yet. I am unfortunately using my agility jewelry but I do have almost 60% weapon critical rating, however although my dps may be great for dungeons, it is not good enough for trials and maelstrom. For PvP I threw on proc sets about 2 weeks ago when I found out they aren't nerfing them. You gotta do what you gotta do I guess. The number one two things that I struggle with is taking damage/healing through damage/defensive mode and something else that I think almost everybody is annoyed with which is snares. Everything freaking snares you in this game and I see all the pro pvpers talkig about how important movement speed is in Cyrodiil but they can go screw themselves because snares prevent you from being able to move and you hit shuffle, you're freaking snared right after. I have learned how to line of sight but it is impossible to line of sight targets that have more movement speed than you do. Something needs to be done and snares need to be completely removed from the game because it is so deadly.

I know what I should be doing lol but the two things I struggle with is not max dps, and I am very slow on reacting to certain things. Some of those one shots are absolutely ridiculous because you have to memorize them to know when to block or dodge roll or else you have less than a second to react, dead...

If it's reaction time, then just practice. I reccomend the place with all the atronochs, South most town in Reaper's (willow vale? Something along those lines).

Keep an open mind about what I say next. You'll want to practice dodging red there. There are flame, frost, and storm atronachs everywhere. Flame atronachs test your situational awareness: you should never get hit by their ground based AOEs or death explosions. Frost atronachs also have ground based AOEs to test footing while you DPS, and a conal attack to avoid or block (ideally avoid). Storm atronachs have one of the shortest interuptable attacks in the game, as well as an attack that is not telegraphed that will snare you. Dodge it.

If you can never take damage from the above, move onto survival instincts. Aggro large packs and keep alive while doing damage.

What you're struggling with (the defensive, heals, etc) part in PvP is inherent within a NB non Heavy mag build imo.

From what I'm experienced with stam non Heavy Tremorscale builds esp NBs are exceptional at dealing damage and struggle with surviving a counter. Typically your best defense is an exceptionally strong offense.

If using HA, SnB, DW Vigor, Blood Craze and Rendering Slashes? Are very good heals to support you while going on offense.

What you're experiencing with Shuffle is actually a known bug that is being fixed in U13. After, you'll find your immunity will actually work.

    Good luck
