Hard mode zones

I'd really love to see veteran versions of all the quest zones. I think there is very little challenge to most of these areas and being able to switch to a veteran mode for quests would make them way more fun.

I'd like a seperate instance where mobs hit harder and have more health.

Make my quests epic!

Edited title so people can get past the word Veteran.

If they were different instances of the same zones that'd be fine for me, but there have been people who want brand new zones that are exclusively the same as if you went Hard Mode on a Vet Dungeon Boss, which is gusta no bueno for me.

Yeah, different instances is what I'm wanting also, it could use the current group normal/vet Dungeon Mode toggle and take you to the preferred instance when you zone.

All of you realize we once had veteran zones and they were removed because they and the whole veteran system were awful?

What would happen if we embraced the thought of veteran zones going away because of OneTamriel ... since that's what actually occurred?

I definitely think we need vet or hard mode zones that are different and interesting.

They don't need a Vet Zone. They just need a no gear solo VMA unlockable achievement. See who gets that first.

Tell another joke, we already had veteran zones for over 2 years and they were removed because they proved to be a terrible idea.

I think you guys are confused.

I'm not talking about veteran as in VR level etc, I'm talking about Veteran like how dungeons are changed to be harder.

I think all you need to complete most of the current quest content is light attack.

Even before One Tamriel the mobs were all made easier because some players had trouble, those players and the one's quoted above could use the normal zones. Even if they just gave mobs more health and damage and called it a Veteran zone it would be great. Maybe with a little bit of a reward incentive, like higher quality loot chance or something.

They were removed because people hated the Veteran system AND because people wanted to explore Tamriel without limitations. :)

And no Domander, I'm not confused. We once had Veteran zones. Where you needed Veteran Rank 1/2/3/4 etc. to enter and where the enemies were stronger depening on the rank. We had all of this where a VR1 character really had troubles in a VR5 zone.

Sure, the actual situation is... tiresome. The zones are pretty easy (otherwise the world bosses have been buffed in a total crazy way, I could solo the back then but now they have 2 million HP and it's a pain to solo them) but that's how it is. Craglorn once was a group zone... they changed that as well.

Before "One Tamriel" it used to be like that. If for example you started game in EP, you completed every EP zone and main quest, then you had veteran zones in DC and higher veteran zones in AD.

For every alliance the vet zones were different.

However these zones ware mostly empty and you had to solo every dolmen, world boss, dungeon etc.

ZOS changed this in "One Tamriel" update, probably because there was lack of players occupying these zones and they want to save some server space.

I really like the One Tamriel update, I wouldn't want to change that at all. I just want the option for more challenge..

I was thinking, I suppose they could also just add a buff/debuff that makes mobs hit twice as hard and take half damage while increasing loot quality chance or something.

I wish they would change the whole game to the difficulty level old silver/gold zones used to have.

No he is talking back when Vet zones use to be for groups. The dificulty of zones back before the nerf in the first the first year were pretty difficult especially. They were made for groups which made it difficult to solo unless you use sorc pets or using god mode dks because back then Templars substain was worst than now and Nightblades skills were not the best for survivability in combat.

Nah I like it the way it is now. It used to be such a pain in the arse trying to find a group for the quests.

I think what the OP is referring to is this:

    1. Zone into an area - say "Auridon" for example.
    2. You get a pop up message asking if you want normal or difficult mode.
    3. you choose the difficulty
    4. all enemies are adjusted in HP, damage, and resistances to that difficulty setting.
    5. You continue your adventure with some challenge

I agree with this premise 100%. I have 2 main toons - one Stamblade and one Stamplar. I can one shot all but the toughest things on the NB from stealth and nothing even scratches the Stamplar.

I soloed a public dungeon last night on the Stamplar using only shrouded daggers on ALL of the content except for the bosses. 4 shrouded daggers killed every group before they even reached me.

I know that I can manually "gimp" myself, but honestly, who would actually do that? It's hard to create and test a build if you intentionally suppress gear and abilities. You won't get an accurate representation of power if you are artificially gimping yourself to the content.

I would be absolutely on board with a difficulty adjuster of some kind as long as it made sense.
