Someone said something to me about borrowing and it made me think of.

'Do you know the old saying? Neither a Borrower or a lender be. Rubbish. Without borrowers or lenders how would we ever be able to buy or sell anything?'

I miss that line.

I do sort of miss the old dialogues.

I only know that phrase because it's the one used when you test Harven's subtitles addon.

But that's probably good. I have another addon that mutes bankers and adds a mute button to other NPCs, I've had it for months and I still hear "Welcome to the bank of Daggerfall" in that woman's annoying voice every time I speak to her. Not literally but it seems to be stuck in my memory.

I don't. Because she was botching it every time. It's "neither a borrower nor a lender be." Not, "or."

I wrote it as nor the first time I typed it bu then checked an image to see if I got it right so changed it!

I miss that line too. The only reason everyone used to hate it (aside from @starkerealm who was irritated by the fact that she didn't get the saying right ) is because back then you couldn't skip past the line to get to the bank options. You had to listen to her say the whole thing every. single. time.

Now that you can skip past NPC dialogue to get to the options, I'd love to see this bit of voice acting get put back in the game.

The quote she's referencing is "nor." She was misquoting it until the line was removed. Worse than that, it was grammatically incorrect.

Someone else, I want to say it was @MissBizz, pointed out the grammatical error and it festered for me. I mean, I'd known it was wrong, but hadn't been thinking about it.

Exactly my thoughts too.
It's such a memorable line, they would do well to return it to the game.

See and I'm OK with NPCs misquoting things or being grammatically incorrect, because real people in real life do that all the time. But yeah, it definitely should be "nor" as the original line (spoken by Polonius from Hamlet) is "Neither a borrower nor a lender be; for loan oft loses both itself and friend."
