What will happen??

With homestead coming soon, Im thinking about the economic changes.
We all know that housing is a MASSIV goldsink. On the other hand the demand for previous worthless items will raise by many factors (like green/blue tempers).
Will we see a masive deflation or unpayable mats?

Where are our part-time economy professors?

I was wondering about OP's idea on this as well.

Not sure why Blue/Green temper prices would rise. Most people only have two-three full stacks of the Green/Blue tempers sitting in their banks. Since I started the game, I've never had to worry about how many Green/Blue tempers I have. Purple and Gold though... while I'm a bit tighter on Purple, and my Gold tempers are precious commodities, I don't worry about the other tempers.

So why would the prices of Green/Blue tempers rise?

Because of the crafted furnishings: http://esoitem.uesp.net/dumpMinedItems.php?type=29&output=html&version=13pts&fields=icon,name,abilityDesc,value,quality

Normally, gold sinks are great anti-inflationary tools.

However, when you add in a massive increase in demand for items, you offset that.

Worst case: A stagnant economy and massive inflation, where no one can afford to sell things at price that anyone can afford to pay. Think 1970s America or contemporary Venezuela. That's not unlikely with a system like we're about to get.

    In shortterm: I can agree:
Purple and gold mats will increase pretty quickly (oddly the prices are currently dropping like everyone wanna get as much gold as possible before update), but yes there`re tons of green and blue mats. Altough you have to consider one thing: Those mats were farmed withing close to 3 years. Now youre gonna pay 9 green mats for each green furniture. If you want 100 green clothing furnishings then you will need around 5 stacks of those. And I know that alot of people are going to furnish more than one house and will need those 5 stacks. So over the long term the stock of those mats is going to sink and prices will go up, but not as fast as the higher mats.

Because suddenly people will be wanting to make items with these tempers. It probably won't raise as much as the OP thinks though, but it will spike at first as people scramble to make stuff they want.

Anything with furniture will become hot, plain and simple.

In other games I play where there are houses and you can decorate, house items can be pricey.

In one game a house item I wanted cost me a cool $50 million. That was also 50% below the average for that item.

So, IMO, furniture will become the hot items to sell, either crafted or plans.

I don't think ppl are going to be buying and decorating in masses as some suggest.

It makes a whole helluva lot more sense to just pool resources and have one house within a group of ppl.

That may be a guild, friends or just a handful of random players.

Consider some are just going to use crowns so long term the impact will show up different than we all think but initially demand will be high and then it'll die suddenly cause who wants to farm for housing items ?

U gotta get the recipes first anyways.

I think you under estimate the excitement people have for large scale housing like this.

Guild Halls aren't going to be as hot as people think. Specially if members realize if the leader decides to leave the guild or stop playing control of that "Hall" can't be changed so it becomes unusable.

You are also going to have a lot of people who will have enough gold to almost buy ever house. These type of people normally will want to fully furnish the homes so they will be dropping tons of gold on buying furniture. They will probably be willing to highly overpay for stuff. So the first few weeks or months the mats for furnishings will definitely jump up.

And raging about it on the forums...that is the really important step afterward. It goes like this:

    Step 1- Massive lag spike

    Step 2- Mass DC

Step 3- Five or so failed attempts to log back in.

Step 4- Rage (or post snarky troll stuff like I do- this is acceptable as well) on forums.

It'll be healthy for the game in the long run but with everyone rushing to get everything at the beginning, the markets will be a nightmare.

I'm gonna chill with it, buy one place with real money and furnish the *** out of it and all the others will be bought with in game gold to suit the characters.
