Agis✭✭✭Are your weapons already golded? How many points do you have into Piercing from the Ritual champion tree? I'm going to assume you already have legendary sharpened weapons (5160 pen) and 0 points into Ritual tree.
You start out with a 100 base pen. The 5 piece purple bonus is 3861 Physical Penetration and if you make it legendary/gold that bonus becomes 4000 Physical Penetration. Which is only a 139 difference.
This is the forumla, just an easy sum:
PP = PhysicalPenetration
BasePP + WeaponPP+ SetPP + SkillPP + ChampionPointsPP+ BuffPP = TotalPP
100 + 5160 + 3861 (purple) + 0 + 0 + 0 = 9121
100 + 5160 + 4000 (gold) + 0 + 0 + 0 = 9260
Conclusion: The extra penetration is only 139. But you also boost the trait effects & Max Stamina on your gear by a little bit. IMO it's not worth the 40 gold materials. Only thing that needs to be legendary/gold is your weapon.

4k pen + cp + 5kpen from weapons = 9k pen
also put 1 wep dmg enchant on 1 weapon and a crusher on the other and when it procs you should have 11k pen from using spriggans.

✭Get prepared to spend a minimum of 800k (PS4 EU at least) for a sharpened dagger though. I've been farming for 3 weeks non stop, no pledges or quests, just world bosses, traesure chests and delves and havent found 1. Best place is to farm the public dungeons for set weapons, more of a chance to drop as it only drops 2 armour pieces.1
