Why is Breton gear everywhere?

75% of the weapon and armor racks I see have Breton gear hanging off them. In Stormhaven this is understandable, in Sentinel this is eyebrow-raising but okay, they're allies...but why is the armorer in Woodhearth displaying Breton gear? And it isn't just there, it's all over the place!

Iirc the Bretons are a very merchant based race. So there's a good chance that this gear is being exported by the Bretons and then sold in these places you mentioned.

They have really simple designs too. Probably good quality for low cost, hence their proliferation across tamriel as the cheapest alternative to local styles.

Bretons are well known for stripping their gear off to engage in "recreational activities" at the drop of a hat, so it's only natural that their gear should end up lying around all over the place. Sometimes they forget it when they're done, sometimes they can't find where they tossed it in the heat of the moment, and sometimes unscrupulous individuals take advantage of the distracted Bretons and simply walk off with their gear.

You would think you'd see more Nord gear lying around considering all the naked Nords that have been tricked by witches.

There is a lot of nord gear lying around. Just, not nearly as much. Because Nords need to be tricked into disrobing. Bretons do it voluntarily.

Yup why not? Money is money so exporting 'opportunistically acquired' Breton gear to enemy factions seems like a sound economic venture for Tamriel denizens.

The best way for an arms dealer to get truly rich off war is to sell to all sides! As long as you're discrete enough about it... But hey, that's the whole risk/reward thing!

Because the Bretons would have to be producing about four times more gear than any two other races combined--also, why should merchants in the Aldmeri Dominion buy Breton gear when they can make their own, and not have to worry about an 'import fee' smuggling it past customs? Because unless I'm misremembering the quest in Riften, the Alliances don't even like trading non-combat supplies like wine with each other--it would be the height of folly to be exporting weapons they need for their OWN war effort.

Goes to show that none of you understand Breton politics. Most of us don't like Emeric any more than we do the nords or elves.

We can't wait to go back to our usual vicious back-stabbing inter-kingdom feudal politics until Tiber Septim comes along and forces us to get along. At sword-point.

Fun answer: Bretons are in fact a kind of incognito Daedra and to get their gear all one has to do is summon more of it. We have a crisis of oblivion clipping into Nirn right now so their stuff is all over the place. Proof-- the Soul Shriven gear all used to be Breton style.

Real answer maybe: Breton may be default style, or style 0 or something. When you have loading problems and you see other characters partially loaded their weapons appear as Breton style until they display properly.

This is what I think. Particularly because Breton is the default racial style in the crafting interface if you have it unlocked.
