Help with Crit vs Spell DMG (Magplar DPS, PVE)

I'm not sure what to do in order to have the best dps output for my templar. Currently running full set of Julianos and full set of Mothers Sorrow, which nets me about 75% crit, but I only have 1300 spell damage. Does the high crit make up for the damage or should I do something to give up some crit for damage? Any gear or other suggestions welcome. Also as a side not does anyone know for sure whether Thaumatrage applies to sweeps and radiant?
It's all good Bollywood

I run Julianos/twice Born star with soulshine or spinners. And yes you want points on that thaumaturge. @Nifty2g and @Alcast know this class quite well.

Julianos+ Mother's Sorrow is probably not BiS but for PvE dps it's definitely viable.

Following seems odd (if youre Cp160+):

1300 spell power seems extremely low for an endgame pve toon. Your weapon alone should give that amount.
Be sure to use Spellpower enchants on jewelry. you should have at least 1815 (staff) or 2082 (dual wield) unbuffed WITHOUT ANY SETS. It's adviceable to use Weaponpower enchants on one weapon depending on how often it procs it can give an average 150 spell damage.
Make sure you have Major and Minor Sorcery up. (Sources: Potions, friendly Dk's, Entropy; Dawn's Wrath skills)

The Idea of having high crit chance includes the idea of having high crit damage multiplier too(that's the reason why people use Twice-Born-Star, and Warhorn, Rearming Trap, elfborn), templars have naturally +10% more crit dmg, so they seem to fit for high crit builds.

The thing is Zos don't like crit dmg builds so they plan to nerf Warhorn(multiplicative +30% to additive).
So we have to wait what they're doing and depending on that some things are adviceable and some are not.

Following sets are good sets for Templar Dps right now:
Infallible Aether, Julianos, Tbs, Mother's Sorrow, Burning Spellweave, Spinner's, Moondancer, Scathing Mage.
(I'm not the BiS-Boy, depends on what you're doing)

Thaumaturge applies definitely to Radiant and sweeps but not to dark flare. Great parts of your Damage are buffed by it so more than 60 points are common. (Annotation for the next patch: Thaumaturge applies to Lightning medium/heavy attack but not to Backlash)

Soulshine works well for PVP in Heavy armor for PVE you lose quite much Damage because of two reasons:
    1. it is a heavy armor set so only healthy jewelry, so with each jewelry piece you will lose ~90 spell damage equivalent.
    2. Great Part of your Damage is not buffed by the 5 piece bonus. (Jesus Beam+ Sweeps usually are around 60% of your dps, so you have to multiply 440 with 0.6 resulting in 264 for the 5 piece bonus)

For BiS: tamrielfoundry is a good lead, they discuss that.
