Female Characters, why so thin?

Dunno why I finally got the desire to post about it, but it's something I've just noticed for so long when passing by other players.

ukzgAMW.png

My girl is on the left, and the player on the right walked up, so of course since the player was also a kitty, I took a gander. And just like many, MANY other female characters I've noticed in this game, that player's girl looked a bit, un-insulated? It's made me think more about the figures available to us in the creation screen. My girl's sliders are cranked literally up to 11. Deep in the corner of Large with Hips, Legs, Arms maxed out and yet she still looks healthy and average. Granted I have her gut size set to lowest, but still with everything else set so high she doesn't look overweight at all. But then all these other characters that obviously don't have their sliders set to my extremes are practically skin and bones.

Someone give these poor things a Cheeseburger.

I think it's pretty logical, in that people who play games are participating in a mass fantasy. With the kind of distorted beauty standards set by modern society, many people choose to be represented by an ideal that matches that standard. It's more a comment on our perceptions of beauty than an insult or accusation.

Personally, all my characters are tall and muscular, as that is a female standard of beauty that I admire and aspire to. And I don't think it's wrong to admire a slender frame either, as long as you don't belittle people or tell them to 'eat a cheeseburger'.

It's for silly and informative things like this that I wish @ZOS_RichLambert would break out the graphs and figures. I wanna know how many people crank up and turn down the options for gut, chest, posterior, hips, and waist for female characters and for male orcs.

All their belly fat went to their fun bags.

Guess most folks are just used to going full skinny and maxing out the fun bags?

I pretty much prefer wider waist/hips, smaller gut myself and don't got full skinny on the triangle either.

Because what is considered attractive or desirable is a temporal construct of the society of the day. If ESO was around in the 18th century we may be asking why so insulated. A quick look at modern pop culture will give you your answer.

I saw a truly stick like character in the bank in Auridon once.

She was quite tall, but must have had the body mass setting ( the triangle ) set to the absolute thinnest possible, and every body slider looked to have been set to the minumum, apart from the breast slider which looked to be maximum.

It actually looked frightful. I've never seen a character so disproportional, and I hope I never do again.

Edit - I like to see curvaceous characters, I think they look wonderful.

The phrase "Give that person a cheeseburger." is born more out of concern than contempt. Its proven that thin, skinny, "slender" figures have their own health risks as husky and overweight bodies do. I mean honestly its a natural instinct to feed someone that appears sickly. Really my somewhat poor attempt at humor there stems from an opinion based upon a desire to see healthy representations, and definitely not a desire to belittle peoples preferences on beauty. Perhaps i was hinting at a desire for the character creation to have a broader range to its sliders? Perhaps i just wanted to add my own input to a commentary without necro posting another thread?

Or maybe i really did just want to be a typical forum jerk and belittle peoples preferences like you said.

That's the thing though. In this game, the sliders let you go beyond feminine into plastic surgery gone wrong territory that @BlueViolet mentioned.

I sometimes wonder if people just reflexively crank up the fun bag slider and minimize the rest out of habit.

(Would like to add that both Khajiit in the OP's pic look well-proportioned though)

That cat looks thicc compared to others I've seen during my travels. I remember one in Rawl'kha who was so skinny that I had to do a double-take to make sure I hadn't just mistaken her for a High Elf with hypertrichosis.

Your using only 1 character in the game as a example here for your stance on "the women khajit are too thin" stance. Meanwhile another user proven that you can make a fat khajit too. (quote below)

If the users wish to play a thin Khajit then they should be allowed to since, you know. This is a video game ment for the players who play it to enjoy it. Just because you want to play as a husky Khajit doesn't mean that another user should be forced into playing as one as well.

If you really didn't wish to be a "forum jerk" then you wouldn't have made this a issue at all since there is no issue. The players are able to make their characters to almost exactly how they wish for them to look in this fictional world of Elder Scrolls. You are only trying to make this into a issue because you feel that the women are being portrayed wrong in some form or another. But when I look at your Khajit in the picture I just see some fat bloated khajit wearing a outfit too small for her size. Harsh, I know but that's the reality of my point of view when seeing your character in that picture.

So, I gotta disagree with you there and say that you are just trying to flamebait or jerk some chains to get a argument going when there is none since the players are able to make their characters however they wish for them to be like in game and if you bring up npcs who are not fat too, I'll just ignore you since I don't wish to continue wasting my time here.

When i first created my mSorc this is exactly how i set her up, why because i had seen the soul shriven skin that was due to come out, and i wanted my character to look truly shriven! and she really did! ;)

I have absolutely no problems with a fuller figure, but I make my characters smaller because I like to view them as dolls. Might sound weird, but I collect dolls irl, and have a mass collection of them. So my characters are my dolls that I dress up, customize, and are able to play ingame :#

Might sound weird, I guess, but that's how I see it xD

Health at every size is delusional, sorry but it's true. It's called reality, if you weigh 200 kg you are not healthy.

Also, stop with this feminist *** propaganda, it's cancerous. Some shapes are more attractive then others, end of story. and no, i don't think that being extremely thin is healthy or beautiful, so don't even try to pull out this argument.

And anyway, who gives a ***... If you are offended by *** like this, that's on you, most people don't have the time, and don't really want to get offended by stupid, meaningless things like this, do whatever you want, just don't go around telling people what they should do or saying things like, but but... you can be healthy even if you weigh 400 kg, (it's genetics, it's always genetics... By the way, my parents are fat, yet i'm an athlete, strange *** huh?) yea occasionally you do get a heart attack, or diabetes, or both, but skinny people do too right?
