IDEAS TO MAKE PVP IN ESO MUCH BETTER! :D

I have been playing almost nothing but PvP in ESO for over a year now, and while I still find it super fun, there is amazing potential for the PvP in here! I am studying as a game designer at the moment and already have my fingers in a few small games, and I thought up some really cool ideas that maybe some of the designers at ZOS could look at and maybe get some ideas for what to add to PvP to keep things fresh and exciting! Below I will list some of my ideas and I would love if more people could post their ideas as well and we can just create a massive pool of ideas for ZOS to get inspiration from! :)

1. DESTRUCTIBLE BRIDGES : The bridges between AD land and EP land have a problem of getting clogged up and after a while boring. In order to add some depth and excitement to these bridge fights, You should be able to siege down the middle part of the bridge and make the rubble fall into the water below, it would be sort of like knocking the third floor stairs down inside a large keep. There would still be the 2 towers on either side of the bridge, but the middle would be destroyed. This would make bridge fights very intense because while your group may control the bridge, the other group could siege the bridge down and send you into the water to be consumed by those slaughterfish we all know and love so much <3. I really think this idea would be easy to implement and would really help keep things fun on those long, boring bridge farms.

2.AP BUFF LOCATIONS & COOL FIGHT LOCATIONS: This is probably my favorite idea by far, because (the very times this happens) I love having raid v raid fights in really odd locations in cyro! It's probably the most fun I ever have in PvP. The designers of Cyro did such an amazing job creating so many cool locations and places within cyro, but SO many of them never get used and are never fully appreciated. The giant village north of bleaks, the lava town south of rayles, and many others NEVER get used and it's really a shame because those places are so original and have a cool layout for a raid v raid fight. I remember sometimes, when our guild wants to have a cool fight someplace, the only way we can do it is by taking a scroll to said location just to force people to come have a fight there! So, my idea is to have sort a king of the hill mode implemented into the game much like how the scrolls are like capture the flag. so, once every hour, you have 1 or 2 AP buff locations pop up on the map in a random location like the top of the mountain in EP land or the burnt down town in AD near alessia. These locations will have a large radius and as soon as they pop up on the map they will have a countdown to when they expire (10 min should be a good amount of time). When the countdown expires, everyone inside the area will receive a x2 AP buff for 30 min! But here is the catch, if there are enemies within the radius when the timer goes off, you will only receive a x1.5 buff. This will create hectic and chaotic situations in which groups will desperately be trying to slay one another in order to get the max AP boost. This will be a great way to split up massive zergs causing lag too because it will spread groups out on the map more efficiently! I would LOVE to see this added to the game or some variant of it, and I know others would to.

3.DIVERSE KEEPS This is another idea I would LOVE to see put into the game. While the design of the 3 different sort of keeps is cool, they could be SO much better. The other day I was walking around Wayrest and all I could think about was how awesome it would be to have a massive Zerg V Zerg fight in the city. The locations outside of cyro and in PvE land are AMAZING and put everything in cyro to shame in my opinion. So with that being said, I would love to see some major diversity for the keeps and outposts in cyro because clearly the designers at ZOS have got some amazing skill at designing buildings, so why not bring more of that into cyro? What I would do, is make the Emperor keeps (The ring keeps as they are called) the same if you want. I would then redesign Dragon, Drake, and Brindle and make them smaller but also much formidable looking. Almost as if when they were built by the specific factions they were built as if they never expected them to be taken by any other army. I would then change the gate keeps, Blood, Black Boot, Rayls, Warden, Farra, and Kings to be bigger but not as formidable. almost like a fort that was built not with the best defenses because they are so far into the the faction's land. The outposts I would COMPLETELY redo and make all 3 very different form one another. What I would do, is make these be almost like towers, and have flags on different floors you have to flip to take the keep! That would allow for a more spread out fight within these outposts and make them feel VERY different from keep fights, which they should be. Now, for the 3 most important keeps in the game. Arrius, Glade, and fare. These keeps are by far and away the most important keeps in cyro, and the design of them should reflect that. These need to not just be keeps then, they need to be cities. Now, I am not talking about creating a massive city like come of the ones in PvE land but I want a Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith sort of fight at these keeps ( and I am not alone haha). There should still be and inner and outer part of the keep, but there should also be houses and buildings in the courtyard that people can funnel into and defend. It should be a massive deal when these keeps get attacked and should almost trigger a faction event when they do! Changing these keeps wouldn't be too difficult I would imagine and would add some much needed change and spice to cyro that I know all the players would enjoy!

4. DARK ANCHOR DAY: This is a pretty crazy idea and would be hard to implement, but if done correctly, could have a massive impact on PvP and definitely bring more people into PvP. I have always loved the idea of weekly events in PvP. So, what I am proposing, is that once a week on a completely random day and time, Dark Anchors will drop from the sky and on one home keep or outpost form every faction. Now, what would then happen after that, is that the keep that the anchor would be on would be on would be cut off of transit and turn the keep purple, and when the anchor comes down, it would knock down ALL the outer walls and make them un-repairable for as long as the anchor is there. There would be 2 bosses that would spawn with a LOT of mobs. These would be mobs from just like the ones in IC so they would be stronger then your typical ones you see from the dolmans. 1 boss would appear in the courtyard and the other in the inner keep. The one in the courtyard would be a giant one ( I am thinking like the one from the IC prison dungeon, aka that giant Flesh Atronach), and the inner boss would be a very strong version of a banner boss from the sewers. Only after you kill the bosses and flip both flags back to your faction, will the anchor be destroyed. Here is the REALLY fun part about this, imagine you are having an intense fight on a keep and you are either trying to attack it or defend it, and then suddenly, a dark anchor falls out of the sky and now both the attackers and the defenders have problems to deal with now. Depending on the situation with the attack and defense this can actually be helpful to either side! This would be AMAZING and a LOT of fun because you would either have to team up to bring down the crazy boss in the courtyard and try and use said boss to your advantage, or... neither and end up the boss and mobs wiping both armies inside the keep and now you have a Keep that is under control by Molog Bal. I would really love for ZOS to look into this idea because I think weekly events would really add what we have all been wanting in cyro, and thats an exciting event that you don't know when is going to happen!

5.DAEDRIC ARTIFACTS: This was actually something I thought was going to be put into the game at launch, but never was. I would do this one of 2 ways. One way, would be that when you become Emperor, you are rewarded with a choice of a Daedric artifact. These would be sort of like super versions of malestorm weapons. Each would be very unique and extremely powerful. This would add some VERY much needed plus to being emp and make it even more special! Now, the other way of doing this, would be to have sort of a scroll type of mechanic, in where a random artifact will spawn in a random location on the map, and you can go and pick up whatever artifact it is, but just like the scroll, it will say on the screen who picked up the artifact and it will also show on the map where the person with the artifact is. Now, this would sort of cool and kind of create a juggernaut sort of game type or even a VIP game type. You would of course have to have like an hour long timer on said artifact and it would only be able to spawn once every 24 hours or something like that. I think this would be really fun to have in cyro because once again it would add some diverse and unique situations to PvP.

6.COLDHARBOUR PVP AREA: I think one thing that cyro really needs, is a new PvP area, and what better place to fight other then the realm of Molog himself? The only thing at this moment the Dark Anchors do in cyro is provide Coldfire to players and let them build up their ultimate. I think the time has come for them to be for their true purpose to finally see the light, a gateway between Tamriel and Coldharbour. What I am proposing is that when a Dark Anchor drops, you can use it to travel to an area of Coldharbour where lies a forgotten Daedra fortress named Coldtouch Keep that Molog-Bal's forces built just in case they ever had to defend an invasion from the peoples of Nirn. So, the keep is vastly different form anything in cyro. It has 3 levels and 3 gates, and the area the fortress resides in is about as large as the south Morrowind gate (where the temple is). The area has as many portals as there are dark anchors in cyro. When you travel through an anchor in cyro, you will come out of a specific portal in this area in coldharbour. Now, this keep doesn't count for any points, but as long as its under your control, your faction will be rewarded with coldfire siege in every rewards of the worthy, give the faction a double AP buff to the whole faction, and best of all if you hold it for a straight 24 hours, you will be rewarded with 1 crown crate (please? lol). I think this whole thing would add a lot to how we move around cyro and what we should defend. A huge benefit of holding ColdTouch Keep, is that since you can use any Dark Anchor to get there, you can also use the portal to come out of any dark anchor in cyro, so you can move a large army from once side of the map to the other in no time! I have heard so many times from all sorts of players that they want a new area to fight other raids in, so this would be the perfect solution for it.

7.UPGRADABLE KEEPS: I have always loved the idea of really harnessing the power of claiming a keep for a guild. What needs to be done, is that keeps should have upgradable options after a certain amount of hours under your alliances control. Now, I know there is already something like that when the doors, walls, and NPC's upgrade, but I want to take that concept to the next level. After every hour or so, members form the guild that own the keep, will be able to pay large amounts of AP ( around 50,000 to 200,000 give or take) to buy upgrades for the keep. These upgrades would consist of reinforcing specific walls giving them much more health. Moats, where you can create a moat around a keep in where it forces enemies to either deal with the moat after bringing down a wall, in where they will have to climb up the rubble to get through the breach, or the enemies will have to attack the FD instead. These moats will be able to be upgraded form water, to lave, to water with Slaughterfish in it. An extra layer on the front door, a metal drop gate over the front door that will take much longer to knock through. There could be a dozen other things too but these would be the main things also, having banners of the guild owner's tabard all over the keep would be awesome!

8.DWEMER SIEGE: I thought this or something like this was going to be added to the game a long time ago but never was. Well at any rate, we would love to see a special sort of siege that is unique and more powerful then coldfire. What would make this unique though, is that you would be able to craft different types of ammo you could fire from this Dwemer siege. These would also have 2 times as much health as normal siege. Now, the ammo you can craft would be everything from smoke screen, to ammo that breaks open and summons Dwemer Spheres to fight for you. There could be dozens and dozens of unique and interesting ammo types. Again though, I don't know if this is something ZOS is planned on adding already, but everyone would love to see this put into the game.

9. SIEGE SKLL LINE: I am actually surprised that this was never added to the game. This would be a new skill line under the alliance war tab next to support and assault. It would be a skill line that would have skills in it such as quick reloading while this passive skill is activated, and you can repair a siege while channeling this skill on a siege. These are just a few ideas but it would be really awesome to see more emphasis on such a cool mechanic like siege.

10.MAKING IMPERIAL CITY WHAT WE ALL WANT IT TO BE!: This is my last idea but by far the biggest one and by far and away the most complicated but I know I am not alone in this idea and this idea alone would bring more to Cyro then anything ever before. The time has come to make imperial city the same instance as cyro. What this would mean, is that the bridges that are destroyed at the moment would be reconnected and the districts could be accessed using these bridges and sieging down the doors. Now, the districts would have to be redesigned and also have to be cleaned up a little. Doing this would add a HUGE layer to the map and he way we fight and move around the map. You could use Imperial city to move to the other side of the map fast, but it forces you to funnel in together and make it easier to get ambushed and get wiped. Now, this is just one part of the idea, the other would be even more drastic. On top of making IC the same instance, make IC (the upper level that is) only accessible by the faction that has Emperor, and make it so instead of making it so you have to take all the rings keeps to dethrone, you have to siege and take control of IC from the faction that has Emp. Now, you would still get emp by taking the ring keeps, and after that happened, anyone in the Emp's faction would be able to enter the city. In order to dethrone emp, you would have to siege down one of the massive doors across the huge bridges, and then make your way through the districts of IC and take each flag one by one. Once every flag is flipped, it will open the way to White gold tower and there you will have to take the flag in the main room to dethrone. At this point, once the white gold tower has been flipped, everyone inside IC will be transported back to their main gates and IC will close. What I talked about above with wanting a Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith type of fights? Well when your faction gets Emp and next thing you know you have the armies of both factions moving up the massive bridges towards the doors of IC to take it from the current Emp! I get excited form how epic the thought of it! I was at Quack Con 2016 and watched the live reveal of IC before it was released, and while it did make me excited, it also depressed me a lot... because I thought that IC was going to be used in the way I described above. I know this would be hard but you could still keep IC sewers the exact same only that you wont be able to get to the surface from the sewers. I would also get rid if telvar completely but thats something for another time. I would love to see this come true and it would throw a much needed monkey wrench into cyro.

These ideas are just a few I have, but definitely the best I have! ZOS, I know you may not even look at this, or even care (though I really think you do care), but I really hope that you do because even though PvP is on the low priority and that most people in the game don't play PvP, there is still no reason that you can bring more into PvP and cyro by using some of these changes to create an amazing PvP experience. Implanting some of these changes would really please and help keep some of the people that ONLY play this game for PvP and the war, in which you have many people in guilds small and large creating amazing situations in PvP and bringing people into the game that want a good MMO PvP experience!

    Hell yeah. There are 3 bridges thet connect native AD territory with what is EP one. Other two bridges are used only when scrolls can't get over Alessia bridge for some reason. Would love to see more diversity in fights than just a singe same old bridge fight. Also, all 3 bridges should be a bit different for combat diversity reasons.

    Same should be done to narrow gates outside ASh and Chalman. Make them spawn Imperial NPCs at least. That would be more interesting than what we have now.

    Would be interesting to see more town/village fights. But I am afraid Zos can only give us more flags, and flags sux ass.

    Keeps should be diverse, but not in a way that would make some of them way too easy to defend or too damn hard to conquer. I think that 2 homekeeps closest to the alliance gates should have 4 resources compared to others, for start. 4th resource could be just a sentry tower or something.
    4. DARK ANCHOR DAY:
    I am not fan of idea of anchors spawning inside keeps. What would be good is harder mobs on regular dolmens in Cyrodiil. Also, some imperial presence that is not just a few 2 ppl camps scattered across the land. Maybe Imperial patrols or something, with prisoners to be released or something.
    5.DAEDRIC ARTIFACTS:
    Strongly against this. Politics and bs already made a lot of unworthy ppl Emperors, to further reward them with uber weapons would intensify the bs even more.
    6.COLDHARBOUR PVP AREA:
    Even better. Remember the trailers we all saw and were like WOW I WANT TO PLAY ESO ASAP? Ones where alliances siege IC? Would be great to be able to do that one day. Massive siege of IC, as a weekly event or something. I see this more as PvE event.
    7.UPGRADABLE KEEPS:
    I wouldn't mind some upgrades, but nothing ground breaking. And no moats, please.
    8.DWEMER SIEGE:
    Not sure how I feel about this. Siege weaponry is pretty much still op. Maybe the previous point could net defenders few more siege weapons spots, like from 20 up to 25 or something. But I would not advocate for any siege weapon that can insta kill you if used by emperor.
    9. SIEGE SKLL LINE:
    Yes. Even if only filled with passive skills, this would be nice.
    10.MAKING IMPERIAL CITY WHAT WE ALL WANT IT TO BE!:
    Not sure how this would work, but IC should have more entry points than just stinky sewers. We should be able to battle on the very island where IC is built.

    2. I don't think this would work as well as you are hoping for. And to prevent the 3x bonus you mention, it would just require one enemy nb.
    3. The keeps similarity is to promote fairness among the factions. I would agree that each of a faction's 6 home keeps could have a different design so that there would be a bit more diversity, but not in the way that you are stating.

    5. Not really a fan of this due to how little AP earnings are connected to benefiting the campaign.
    6. This would just be another unused area like IC. There is no point to this.
    7. The keeps already do have an upgrading mechanism, where basically the only difference from what you propose is that someone has to spend AP and moats, neither of which I'm really a fan of.

Yes, I would love to see IC become what I think we all had thought it as going to be; completely connected to the rest of Tamriel by the bridges with fighting there contributing to the actual war effort. But, this would require them to make a huge change to a DLC that would en up preventing it from really being able to still be a DLC, so I can't see them doing this since they still ant to make money off of it.

    How about a Mini Game, patch notes or at least a different image for the Loading Screens. Especially since they're such a large part of PVP.

    #1... Being that the Northern choke points are Gates a similar mechanic would need to be applied... either by closing them or collapsing them. Siege Towers could be cool too.

    I think one way to incentivize random areas for combat is to tie them somehow to emperorship. For instance, the last ring keep to "fall" flags one of three areas near the keep that must be defeated/defended in order to crown/dethrone an emperor. These objectives are difficult to solo and would provide an AP buff for everyone during the objective capture/defense phase. The objective would be announced like the scroll captures are, and an icon would be revealed on the map for all players in Cyrodiil at the time. This however would change an existing mechanic for crowning/dethroning Emperor, so I'm not sure it would be received well.

    Alternatively you could have random "buff" areas identified that capturing/defending give a boost to the alliance scoring. But you already have dozens of air traffic controllers in chat yelling at people to; "get off Rayles omg u noobs take a resourse!!!" that it's probably not something that would be very effective.

    ZOS, I know for whatever reason I am forsaken in your eyes. I know you love Jules and Sypher types, etc. But give me, no, lend me the end game meta gear I need grind free and I will make PvP better by destroying Crow and his tidal wave of a red ant army.

    Yes, I like this idea, but I'd restrict it to only 2/3 bridges or gates can be closed at any one time. It would still allow access to enemy territory and the focus the fights. If the 3rd bridge is destroyed on of the other two opens again.

    Yes in general, but the mechanic seems complicated (thinking server calculations). Better to have just a 30 min period within a region, all AP generated is totaled and the Alliance with the most generated gets it all.

    I think splitting the population doesn't really work. But it would be cool if you got a buff for completing all Cyrodiil dark anchors in a certain time. It would encourage people around the other side of the map.

    Ambitious. But the problem remains that IC is subscriber/crown store only. It would have to be part of the base game before these sort of changes happen (personally, I think it always should have been).

    MY idea: make at least one flag guard in a keep a flag boss, equivalent to those in the IC underground. It would add an extra dimension to taking a keep.

    Crow as someone who fights you... well PM a lot this is really really good two thumbs up but only one awesome.

Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

    This is something I have wanted since launch. I would love to be able to drop a bridge ahead of a scroll run, or race to blow it before you are overran if things go bad. The most obvious downside would be the trollish gankers that live under the bridge waiting for singletons or new players to come by.     More Dolmens + PVP events makes me a happy person.

    5.DAEDRIC ARTIFACTS:
    Yes but no. Not a weapon per say, but perhaps a utility item, and emote that worked in Cyro, a mount speed buff, that sort of thing. I don't think we need a new class of super weapons.

    6.COLDHARBOUR PVP AREA:
    I would love any type of open world PVP areas that they add. Coldharbor is an underused location that could easily be buffed of changed though.

    Yes.

    I wish they would make the bridges legit entry points, so that we could enter through them, as well as fight and hold them. IC was disappointing to me, it really never seemed to integrate well to the game.

    All and all, very good suggestions. Not bad. For an Argonian anyway...

    Kudos, Crow - even the ideas I'm not as onboard with deserve full credit for their creativity and lore-appropriateness.

    Of these ideas, the ones I really feel are MUST-HAVES are:
    1. Destructible Bridges - So much yes.
    2. Siege skill line -something like this, I'm amazed doesn't already exist. But I'd call it Engineer, and give it bonuses to upgrading, repairing etc. along with siege bonuses. Perhaps it's unlocked through a certain number of siege-related achievements, including x number of captures of the various keeps in Cyro. Tying the skill line to keep capture achievements that involve all the enemy keeps would give more incentive for factions to break out of the same-old boring fights in the typical hotspots.
    3. Cyro random world events - definitely would be cool, and it would break things up a bit.
    4. Making dark anchors more interesting and relevant would certainly be nice. Perhaps instead of travelling to an outside zone, conquering a named boss at a dark anchor in Cyro ports you to a random linked anchor somewhere else in Cyro. Or maybe if you happen to be working on an anchor in one area at the same time another group is working on one elsewhere, you're ported to each other's locations. Haven't really thought it out, but something fun and crazy like this would add variety, and while it's PvE it has the potential to really throw a curveball into PvP.

    1. DESTRUCTIBLE BRIDGES : My only concern is this could create map imbalance if mile gates are left as is. Eg. AD and EP spend all day destroying their new destructible bridge, allowing DC to cap everything on the map uncontested, or the bridge is broken so AD and EP double team DC instead? Mile gates would need to be destructible to in some way.

    2.AP BUFF LOCATIONS & COOL FIGHT LOCATIONS: This sounds interesting. The buff would need to be worth the effort though.

    3.DIVERSE KEEPS This would be really cool. Keep layout for each faction would need to be mirrored to keep it balanced though. I like the idea of mixing it up a bit though.

    4. DARK ANCHOR DAY: Ew pve. I dunno this idea sounds a bit far fetched.

    5.DAEDRIC ARTIFACTS: Yes please. Make these spawn in the world I want to run around with a wabbajack turning people into chickens.

    6.COLDHARBOUR PVP AREA: Sounds pretty crazy. I dunno if this is really necessary.

    7.UPGRADABLE KEEPS: This is a cool idea, I want moats.

    8.DWEMER SIEGE: Would be an interesting addition.

    9. SIEGE SKLL LINE: Could even add these things to the assault line.

    10.MAKING IMPERIAL CITY WHAT WE ALL WANT IT TO BE!: IC should have been connected to cyrodiil to begin with.

    I almost wanted to talk about how there needs to be a bigger point of the scrolls. Like, if you are missing your scrolls, you earn half as much AP or something :P and for every scroll you control, you earn x1.5 AP!

    1. DESTRUCTIBLE BRIDGES: Destroying the bridge would only make everyone go to the next bridge and more frustrating than the already endless bridge fights. To feed on your idea, destroying the towers would be a great...just like destroying resource towers.

    2. AP BUFF LOCATIONS & COOL FIGHT LOCATIONS: All towns, villages and camps should be capturable, which would add to the depth of actually conquering a zone.

    3. DIVERSE KEEPS: Adding a boss (high ranking guard, general, warden, etc) would be awesome.

    4. DARK ANCHOR DAY: This could be like Destiny's Daily/Weekly Heroic days, where the dark anchors are much stronger with resistance to elemental attacks, etc. Completing the dolmen would have a greater reward. This would across all of Tamriel PVP and PVE though.

    7. UPGRADABLE KEEPS: Keeps are pretty tough already to beat at Level 5 with only a small group, but would be interesting to see slight upgrades that can be purchased at a HIGH AP cost. Otherwise, keeps would be too hard to take over.

    8. DWEMER SIEGE: I, too, read these were going to be available with the One Tamriel update. If a new siege is still not in the works, changing the weak, useless ones would be great. Scattershot should have Stun. Ice Ballista would be great.

    I've always thought the person carrying a scroll should receive some kind of buff to make them more powerful. If you really wanted to be creative after dropping a scroll their vision becomes impaired (screen slightly blurry or forced into first person) for 5 mins.

    I dunno, it'd be cool to have little Easter eggs that don't have much impact on the overall balance of the campaign.

    Some good ideas in there, one huge problem with pvp and pve as well, is anything you create has to be looked at in so many ways, with two big questions, is this exploitable and is it fun, as fun as some things might be the ability to easily exploit it kills that idea or turns it in to something even less fun or you have to scrap the idea all together, at this point with zos's poor record on cheaters and exploiters I always cringe a bit when anything new comes along, but I sure wish they would at least try something outside the box.

    Love your idea for imperial city, as I was disappointed when it was released that the emperor didnt have to take the white-gold tower. I just remember when ESO was first being advertised and they showed those epic battles that is what I wanted. It would just be more meaningful and make more sense if you had to take the ruby throne!
    You have some creative ideas, hopefully zeni takes a look.
