Motifs and the end game

I havent played the game in a little over a year, but came back with a vengeance a couple of months ago. I am Champion 228 now and lvl 50 with all of my tradeskills. I have quite a few of the motifs and the imperial edition.

The Motifs are awesome, but, the best sets seem to drop in dungeons, so the motifs appear kind of useless to me. All these cool designs I can make, but I am never going to wear them. Currently I'm in a mix of orc and Daedric gear.

I assume theres no way to change the appearance of my dropped sets, right? I want to even buy crown store motifs, but I just can't figure out why I would want them.

There are a few crafted sets that are useful: Twice Born Star for example.

If you want to increase your RNG chances of master crafting writs in the next update, known purple motifs matter (blue or crown store exclusive motifs do not)..

For tanking, the best sets don't seem to be crafted. Which, I'm fine with! I like end game to be about killing monsters, but, seems like in stuck in this orc armor.

Im not sure what you mean about purple master crafted writs etc. do those do what I am looking for?

In short no, there is now way yet. People have been asking for it as well as making better crafted gear. So far ZOS has been quiet on those fronts.
