Frustrated and irritated, yes this is a rant/venting.

As the title implies this is just me venting some frustration. I suck at playing any class in this game, but the sole reason for this is simply because I play how I feel like and I hate playing a specific build even if it would maximize my role. I like playing things like dual wield with a mix of magicka based skills. I wish it could work but I don't see how when I have been told many times by different people over the years i've played this game and as a sorceress for that matter, that I "have" to focus on either magicka OR stamina based abilities. I'm very particular, and stubborn, at what I play or how I play in a game. This of course isn't limited to multiplayer based games, so for example my playthroughs of Skyrim have me with pretty much the same set of skills mainly because I love how it plays and it is fun and I love it to death. I wouldn't change it up for anything. That is NOT to say however that I wouldn't try different things.

Now getting back to ESO. I love the sorc class alot because it has abilities that I truly love. I love the 2 pets I get, the lightning based abilities and some of the dark magic abilities. I just wish it was possible to get more dps out of how I play my sorc. Well without bending there probably isn't one. I have no real qualms about it aside that there are times when I'm questing or farming for things like tel var stones or gold or whatever I'm farming for. Of course this will never change my mind on how I plan to play a game like ESO. Of course with things like spellcrafting will add more flavor to the many wonderful skills in this game but still if I don't find something fun I simply won't use it.

Anyhoo that's all I have to say :P.

I actually was contemplating that but I haven't really seen every set bonus yet but I think i will just go ahead with pelinial. Right now I have mainly the IC blackrose heavy armor. If I can maybe get a set of medium or heavy pelinial, not sure if this exists or not. Either way I am happy with how my character looks and plays. Perhaps once I get a feel for all the possible sets I can come up with a decent pair of sets like 2 swords rings/amulet for one, and armor for another with maybe 2 slots for something simple to get a 2 peice bonus I don't know. Just something I'll maybe or maybe not work out at some point :P. Thanks for the suggestion though :D

Pelinials is crafted, so whatever piece/weight/style you want except jewelry. Black rose is not particularly a damage set, which may account for damage woes in PvE. I don't know what you want to use this for, but if it's PvP, (and I hate myself for saying this) but you might try adding velidreth for extra damage.

For all it's flaws, proc sets do not discriminate between stacking and hybrid builds in effectiveness. So, if you use this on me in PvP (blackrose and velidreth) I will hate you, but I couldnt really think of a better match for you

Oh, I don't pvp. I just liked the set for the bonus. I am a crafter but no clue where to find Pelinial if it's crafted. I will be able to make myself a set at some point but I might switch to medium armor though. I like the stealth bonuses from medium but I also like the bonuses from heavy >.>. Dang so many choices

If you are just doing overworld content, bit of group stuff with friends, soloing normal dungeons, you can make sorc that has a mix of dual wield and magicka capabilities no problems. I have two of them. The choice you need to make is which side your main damage comes from and which parts are just a nice buff or garnish.

As I say I have a magicka sorc with a lightning staff and dual wield. The damage comes from max magicka / spell damage, neceopotence, elegant sets and willpower dw. Lightning for aoe and DW overload and frags for single target. Clannfear puppy for tank a and heals.

The stam version still runs the puppy but stacks stam and weapon dam - hundings, night mothers embrace, dual leki (or night terror for stealth missions) uses the weapon lines to dps, dual wield and bow and the sorc ones for buff. The skills and rotations are very similar. The dps is similar they just come from mainly one side or the other.

Surge remains the same. Endless hail replaces wall of elements, hurricane for boundless, bound aegis or armaments, inner light or camo hunter etc. I even still overload on the stam sorc sometimes just because it is fun. The stam sorc I change it round with my mood, bow dps setup for a while, then swap it out for a dw spin to win setup when I want a change.

The thing that I do find disappointing about ESO is that besides full on gank builds in pvp there is no real workable equivalent to the skyrim / fallout style silent bow sniper assassin character. The mechanics in pve, the placement and reactions of mobs just make it not work. Even in dark brotherhood quests, trying to silently bow snipe your way through usually is more problematic with risking a crit failure and a bounty penalty rather than just melee blade of woe. I still do the contracts with the bow sometimes because it is fun more even with a reduced likelihood of success.

Next patch, blackrose will be useable for a 'pure' hybrid - giving bonuses equally to health/mag/stam/spellpwr/wpnpwr/mag and stam return

As already mentioned, there is pelinials - and there is also trainee.

To go hybrid, you could perhaps look at blackrose as a startpoint for your sustain set - perhaps combined with lots of cost-reduction. You should also be able to get it in weapons/jewels next patch. Then add either peilinials or trainee. I'd probably lean towards trainee since you can get it in jewels - because Pelinials favours a high wpn/spell dmg setup which you would lose to cost-reduct glyphs on the jewels..
You could also look at the tri-stat glyphs - perhaps mixed with some mag/stam if you want more of one or the other.

It certainly won't be doing top dps by any means, but it would be fairly tough, and flexible in terms of mixing stam/mag. Juts don't use the clannfear pet - as you'll need to get hit yourself to regain resources.

But as with all hybrid attempts - CP spend is where it gets difficult.. It's either/or for the dmg and sustain sections

Anyhoo that's all I have to say :P.

honestly i love sorc and i love pets too and i have used DW on magica classes. i solo dungeons with my pet sorc (staff) often (daily pledges) when i am not leveling a new char. i even had or have a mag sorc with 2H back bar on one char iirc.

those things are not exclusive of playing the game and 90% or more of the content.

Now, if you also want to "not just carry DW but also use those stamina skills too" thats a little tougher but still manageable with the right build and sets - but it might make it tougher but not impossible - so expect challenging fights in some cases.

Where this "not optimizing" appraoch will run you into trouble is with three areas:
    grouping
    competitive
    end-game arena esp vet/har-mode content.

Grouping is about four-12 folks all working together and pulling their weight. So, its no longer just about you and your preferences. makes sense you might have to give up some of your solo preferences to work well in a group, right? Still though with groups who are cool with it, most normal mode dungeons likely still doable.

Competitive (pvp, leaderboards) these are about maxed builds with maxed skills and coordination so again it makes sense casual preferences might have to be set aside to achieve these.

End-game arena/hard-mode - these are about giving content that challenges even the best top dogs kind of players and its not expected that every character by every player can make it thru. Again makes sense that if you go after this goal, your casual solo preferences might have to be set aside.

but the key is those three areas aren't the majority of the content by any measure.

Sorry but this must have been the worst rant I ever read. No caps, no swear words, no multiple exclamation marks. You have proper grammar and everything. Is that like reverse click-baiting?

Yes, there is nothing worse as being pigeonholed or fun skills that you can't use (or shouldn't, depending on who you ask).

Alot of this is WAAAAY over my head X_X. I only really use flurry whenever my magicka runs out or just to mix it up. I mainly have crystal shards and my vampire drain essence, and on my secondary weapon bar I have surge as my weapon buff and thats about the only real difference. Everything else though is beyond my comprehension level, too many armor sets and the like :P. If they are changing the black rose set I'll have to hop on the test server to see if they have the change active and try it out. Otherwise I'm content with how I am now aside I could probably go with a different series of sets to boost my damage a bit more.

    Guys, it's "Pelinal".

I'm not a grammar nuhzee but seeing an entire thread spelling it wrong was just bugging me out :D

Btw, Pelinal set is just not viable. Not even if paired with Trainee, as the lack of damage is real.
You could be somewhat effective against a light armor user or even a medium one, but in this tank/proc meta you'd just get destroyed.

PvE wise, there's not even need to say aything.
The lack of damage coming from low resources is always there, add that to those splitted crit chance/modifiers and you get the picture.

Trust me, I've tried this set up on 3 characters: a NB, a Templar and a DK.
