Why can't i straight up just refine 200 mats at a time and get a gold temper 100%?

Nothing makes me not want to play then grinding for 2-4 hours only for RNG (yes more rng we all love rng) to screw me and basically make me waste that time.

Youre in a dry spell. Stop refining for a 2-3 weeks or try on a different character.

Last night on EU, I refined ruby mats and here's the break down:

1. 540 Ore - 2 Tempers
2. 440 Wood - 1 Rosin
3. 440 Silk & 1500 scraps - 13 Wax

I really wish I can farm low level mats on my main like I used to pre One Tamriel.

I can put a video up called NODE farming - for you to see that it's possible to obtain 2-3k raw mats in a few hours.

I ended up doing a 5 hour run on the weekend and obtained the following:

26 Kuta
8 Potent Nirn
11 Fortified Nirn
approx 900 Rub Ore
approx 700 Iron Ore
combined wood of roughly 800
combined cloth/leather of roughly 800

I HATE and I mean HATE grinding materials but I've found a spot that works well without bumping into adds and a solid loop.

Im saving for housing, need tempers for new builds, new writs and mats for house crafting.

House crafting is gonna be so expensive, people spending like 2-6 green/ blue/ purple tempers per item.

You must not have skill points into woodworking refining skills.

If u do then thats gotta be a one in a life time lol.

Worst i ever got out of 1k scraps is about 3 wax/rosin/temp.

RNG made me quit farming anything in this game, it's literally not worth a second of my time. And with the way the pvp patches are being rolled out Ide say ill be done altogether pretty soon.

Thats like 800 nodes harvested at worst, lots of work for ten tempers. Its legendary after all.

That's an option no doubt, how much is ore selling for currently? Tempers are about 10,000-11,000 gold on PC-EU. I want to see how feasible it is to sells mats and buy tempers.

Most people like to think that they'll get a gold temper at least every 200 raw materials.

People who have refined large quantities of mats have estimated that there's about a 5 percent drop rate per 10 unrefined mats.

Intuition tells us that 5 percent x 20 trials equals 100 percent, but that's not actually how probabilty works.

What it means is that if you refine 200 mats, you have a 64 percent chance of getting a gold temper. (1-.05) = .95 ^ 20 = .36; (1-.36 = .64)

In other words, you're getting a just over 50 percent chance of getting a gold mat for every 200 refines. Hope that makes you feel better OP. Some people are going to get lucky. Some people are going to get nothing. : (

wow, 100% gold temper returns for each action to refine matts would be OP (is not going to happen). Your time would be so much better spent doing writs and get much more in gold matts back.

Just checked prices for ruby ores on PC-EU and its about 71 gold a pop, so it seems to be feasible, thanks for the insight.
