probably heard decent(nice/mature/intelligent) players say it a hundred times, do what you like/makes you happy/yada, in one ear and out the other. after umpteenth time getting teabagged and/or ran over by a herd tonight, i said, eh, i've had enough tonight.(actually a little more to it, but, you get it/know how it gets) so, next thing i know im roleplaying a little more, and playing a little different role than usual...i went fishing/exploring waterways, took my little fennec fox(named S--thead, after the "Jerk's" dog) with me. i wouldnt shut up talking to him, singing really bad narrative jingles to him like i would irl. -working on our night fish! - you know. it was a really great night. dont know if this makes sense to anyone, or anyone would care, but, thought i'd just share a little. say something good about the game, instead of my usual sarcasm...ya know. it was just good to get away from the hustle and bustle, been too long.

If you were having fun then you were doing it right. Doing it wrong is to game and not enjoy yourself :)

    yeah, this ^^

if you are not enjoying it stop.

I've always said so long as it has zero impact on other players ability to enjoy the game then fill your boots, mate.

It's a game after all you do it because it's fun not because your punishing yourself. You do enough of that for 40-50 hours a week at work amiright?! ;)

You went full immersive. I did that in Skyrim all the time and a few times in ESO. Good on you actually enjoying the world instead of just being zerg rushed and teabagged in it.

Yep love to go off just fishing once in a while. Put some decent music on & slowly inch towards the only title that matters.

But have found listening to music whilst playing can have its problems as often feel the need to make my charater dance...did this last night on a keep. Happily dancing when someone tried to get me with surprise poison arrow attack....but didn't die & it alerted those in the keep to an attack. Did not go well for the attackers.

I've experienced something of the sort, lately.
I stopped following the meta and ran with a clumsy build (I'm using the Vampire's Kiss set, ffs, and a concoction of skills of the "special snowflake" variety) and I'm having tons of fun overcoming the challenges.

As other have said, don't treat the game like it's your second job. There are several aspects of the Game that appeal to various players. Apparently, mine is getting beat on  but hey, I'm having fun. Oh, and finding a high spot and just admiring the view.

But don't worry, you won't see my clumsy build in dungeons ;) not until I've ironed out all the kinks, at least.

Fun for me has always been doing it my way, even when I was being told my way doesn't work.

I ran a Shockadin in WOW for years as PvE, when everyone was saying Shockadin was only any good in PvP, and in my guild I was the go-to Healer AND DPS.

For a good year in LOTRO I ran a Hunter as "off tank" (using a buffed Agile Rejoinder to self-heal) and "crowd control" with the same build. And was told repeatedly it wouldn't work, and it did.

I know there are many cookie-cutter builds for ESO, and to be honest my current build is loosely based on one such build, but then I tweaked it to match my play style, and to make it work for me.

And for the record I love Fishing in ESO. It will be a rare day for me not to spend at least 30 mins fishing somewhere in Tamriel.

When what you are doing is not fun for you, then its time to find another game, or change what you are doing.

I like taking screenshots in various beautiful places. "Selfies" with my char in them.

Binding a key to "UI off" makes for some really nice pics.

And this is how I have fun in PVP, I don't create the powerful builds, I make the builds that are fun to play, pets are not strong but they are entertaining :)

I haven't been playing long really, just a few months but I've always just done what I felt like, I love storms, if one hits a zone that I'm in.. I'm going to dance in it almost guaranteed, and I don't leave until it's over.

    Can I make a suggestion?

Find a nice tree, or a cave or something with a nice spot out of the rain, then type "/sitchair" (no quotes) and enjoy the storm. ^_^

I like vampires kiss :). I'm using 5 pc of that and 3 gladiator with stam DK heavy. Still hit good but survivability for a less than stellar player is so much better.

This reminds me of that quest in Borderlands 2 (Tiny Tina dlc) that highlights the insignificant things MMO players rage about.
