How to find Medium training gear and emeralds

I've managed to get up to level 22 currently but have yet to come across any medium level gear (except boots) to research for training trait. The guild traders don't seem to have any emerald or training armors to research for sale even if I wasn't fairly broke. Is the only option to hope for random drops? Sorry just a lil frustrated.

✭I think the Trainee set drops on all weights and they tend to have training trait. They drop in starter islands. Kill everything and farm treasure chests.On hiatus.
