I want to roll an alt, but at the same time I don't want to.

I have an urge to roll an alt. However, I've already completed all the faction stories on my main and I feel that it would be tedious to run through them again only this time with a different class. What are some of the incentives that would encourage a person to create an alt?

Game will play different. My favorite thing about having a stable of Alts is that every one of them makes the game feel different when I play them.

Trying new classes/builds. I don't do quests anymore, since i completed them on main,i just level by grinding mobs with full training gear+exp potion/scroll as most do, which take around 10h with collecting skyshards.

I never get to create an alt too, want to try DK but can't be bothered with collecting shards and doing the same delves again.
I ended up respec all skills and attributes so I can play tank and heals instead of always dps.

I love alts. Everything plays differently. Yes, the quests and dialogue are the same, but the way you achieve your objectives is completely different.
I'm not prejudiced; I hate everyone equally !

Once you know all the quests and content well, switch to French. It's like guitar - you don't need to be fluent...just hold a tune long enough to charm her.

Do it differently the next time around. Try leveling by running more 4-man dungeons... grind dolmens and public dungeons for set drops... level PVPing in Blackwater Blade... take it easy on questing and just go zone to zone grabbing lore books and skyshards...

There's no need to do it the same way twice.

I must admit the biggest put-off regarding alts to me is all those skyshards to collect again.
What I thought was a nice, relatively novel, mechanism at launch and with my first character now feels extremely stifling. I guess I really have to just focus more on the journey than the destination in that regard, but that can be hard at times.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Go for it. I felt the same until I got my first alt to level 50. Now I have 4 max level toons.

Alts are great for exploring different combat and class mechanics. Starting fresh can be a little slow but it doesn't take long to get going. It's a lot of fun to play around with different builds.

No need to do quests to level up. I only grind my alts by killing things until max level.

There is a very easy way to deal with this problem...
    tumblr_lvx8h2BBgJ1qfr6udo2_400.gif
    :p;):D

    On a more serious note...

Yeah, it can be a drag getting alts through all the content again. it still can be worth it, for one to see what the other classes and builds can and cannot do, to see if your alts maybe do better at fights your main had trouble with, to explore what things change when you go for this or that option in some "choice" quests (not that its much, but... still...)
Still, in the end its everyones choice. Not all people find the gain worth the pain when they think about doing all that again... do as you feel is best for you!

(And yeah, I have twelve characters, and am still having fun playing through the content as not all of them have gotten through everything yet, not by far... one just has to pace it so you don't do one and the same again and again, so... one day, play an alt in stonefalls, the other a different alt in hews bane, the next a different alt again in auridion, then another day spent on my main PvPing, then... you get the idea, right? ;) )

you will get your cp level back as soon as you reach 50.
you have higher level character to craft/farm equipment
you have costume, dye from your other character

    con
you will need cp gear as soon as you hit 50, otherwise you will have hard time playing.
you need to train mount again... which will take ages
you need to go over all major plot quest to gain skill point
you need to run around the world for skyshard for skill point
you will need to farm ages for gear and their upgrade

i thought i would play thru this game with one character- my first and never do it again- and just focus on playing with him. then i thought - oh ill try dk and see what its like. now I'm 7 characters in - practically one 4 each class and race- and i wish i had more slots.

i can't recommend enough playing with different classes, sexes, and races- it makes it a completely different game - well enough for me anyway to keep doing it. if u were vamp last time- this time try werewolf. if u were stam- try magicka- there is so much to do in terms of endgame and builds that it s always interesting.

I also recently created an alt and just did the main quest and the first 3 maps (DC) not trying to lvl fast just enjoying the story becuse tbh I forgot about most of the quests and things as it was a vey long time ago I did them, like...beta and release but it did not take long to hit 50 but as people have said it's the skyshards that are a pain especially if people are like me with slight ocd! And want every one including in cyro! And of course map completing also theses are 2 things that put me off more alts but that's probably down to just me being ocd about those things

I'd like to give advice, but as a person with maxed out character slots and 11 out of 12 at max level, I am probably a bit biased >:)>:)>:)

I did that with 2 (own faction + Cadwell's Silver + Cadwell's Gold + Craglorn + Thieves Guild + Dark Brotherhood + Shadow of the Hist) resulting in an achievement score of over 22.000. I have the most dungeon achievements too.

2 others are just missing Cadwell's Gold (and I am running out of options to avoid doing it...)

In addition I collected almost every single piece of paper (lore books and other eidetic memory stuff) in the game.

I damned know what you mean, but the thing is, after you started a new character, the fever for the hunt is back again. Just avoid doing the same things in too close succession (3 times Cadwell's Gold in a row is a bad decision for example).

There is just one thing I will just doing once and for all: Master Angler of whole Tamriel. It's just too tedious...
