Allow Master Crafters to change the appearance of Items

That would be an awesome Addition to add to the crafting tree that would give some motivation to actually max the Skills.

Make it so that Master Crafters can use style Items to change the apperance of Gear you find ingame, so you can change your look to what you like your character to look like.

Great idea. Once someone hits level 50, they can add a skill in to modify a piece of armor costing a style material and maybe some extra material. This should only be done for bound armor tho as it's easy for people to get to level 50 in crafting.

I agree, saves us having to learn a new motif and having to craft a whole new set of gear

I'm on board! this would be a great tweak for crafters since we all know Zos' love affair with dropped sets. "Tweak" not a "fix."

It would be a welcome change, that is for sure. I might even buy a crownstore motif or 3. As it is now, what is the point?

I'm all for it. Getting kind of sick of the way my TBS looks on my magblade, but I'm not willing to spend the mats and gold to remake it and gold it out just for a visual change.

I also dislike the way some of the dropped sets look. Would love to be able to change those as well.

I'm really surprised they still haven't done this. The mechanic for it already exists in the game with the Imperial edition upgrade and changing your gear to the imperial style, so it is do able. This would make any gold gear you want to hold onto but desperate to change the look of (especially drop only sets), less of a problem.

There would be a question of "How will that effect the market value of Gold Tempers, etc." They wouldn't be needed as often so that could drive the price down a little possibly, and while I'm all for cheaper gold upgrade materials the economy has to keep moving in the right direction.

    I'd propose:
    • You need to have the required passive skill. (As was mentioned in a previous reply).
    • Already know the style and have the level & class equivalent piece of equipment in your inventory to change it into.
    • It would cost you a portion of the upgrade materials of its current quality to change. For example; 1 Grain Solvent/Mastic/ Elegant Lining for purple gear and 2 Tempers/Rosin/Dreugh Wax for gold quality gear.
    • Maybe even throw in a small monetary cost?

These are just a few ideas, either way I really hope @ZOS_GinaBruno or someone from the team takes notice of this, I've been wanting something like this to be added to the game for months. It would give us so many more options.

if you limited it to crafted - i would agree.

Right now the only unique capability that crafted sets have over drop sets is that the sytle is chosen by the crafter from the plethora of motifs available that they know.

Thats the only singular unique thing crafteds have.

giving that to drop sets would make drop sets even more massivly more popular/populous and be yet another nail, perhaps the final nail, in the coffin for crafted sets being used with even a noticeable frequency.

So no, unless limited to crafted sets.

Be sure that's the best idea ever.
My character looks like a clown with all that monster sets (monster sets are awesome but not with all kind of armor) and different drop sets. Btw it's would be great to make my character looks as I want.
So changing appearance of items is must have thing.

Alternatively some manner of system whereby you can equip the gear you like visually and then save that set up as a costume (which acts like all the others in that it's cosmetic only; believe Swotr and maybe Lotro have similar systems). Then just re-equip the actual gear/sets for stats etc. Maybe only have limited 'slots' of these DIY costumes.

I'm sure people would pay for this feature in Crowns if they feel the need to keep the bean counters happy with it. Even as an ESO+ only feature perhaps (probably draw in more subs).

Not disparaging the OP'S suggestion by the way; crafters need some love especially in terms of the sets. Just an alternative idea.

I like the idea, too, but it has to be rolled out correctly ... starting with a check of the character's motif knowledge.

We can have the same argument on 2 threads. Haha. The flip side is that if master crafters could alter motifs on dropped gear, that in it of itself would be a legitimate use for crafters.

The days are long gone where you can make any real money crafting gear. Everyone is a 9 trait crafter it seems. But if you could lend your services to help others alter their gear based on the Motifs you have learned, it would give crafters a legitimate role to play and a reason to expand their motif knowledge.

Yeah. It's exactly what I was asking for a few times now. Crafting at the moment is a vanity feature and seems to be mostly useful for creating stylish gear with a motif of your choice... which you needed to farm for hours and hours...
I can even live with drop sets being more useful than crafted ones, though I don't like it. But if us crafters are reduced to cosmetic features anyway, give us this recraft options to make out farmed sets look like something awesome again, and not like random stuff we found while adventuring like we did between level 1 and 15. My Dunmer Dragon Knight wields an Argonian Shield and weapons when PvPing. That's just wrong. I have to dress a sorcerer like a Lich because I want to use this set. Well, or like a Bosmer which looks pretty silly on him.
Changing _any_ gear's style via crafting would be awesome and rewarding, since I spent a lot of time researching and mastering crafts. And when you're at it, also give us weapon dyeing so nobody is forced to run around with glittering red candysticks and pink Axes anymore...
