Hey guys.

I've played a lot of ESO in the past (Say, one and a half years ago or so). Lately I've been playing a lot of WoW Legion and I've gotten tired of it for the most part.

I am thinking of trying out ESO again, and I would like to know your opinion on the current state of things and the content in the game (no salty posts, please - only honest facts :) )

The one thing which put me off ESO in the past was the insane amount of technical and performance issues I was getting on my PC (which has always been beastly regardless of the year, up to date with the latest hardware and maintained to run on 100% due to my OCD about gaming performance :D )

I'd like to know if the crashing, stuttering and all that stuff is still present and if there have been patches to improve it (as I've read on the forums before, several patches claimed they hold performance fixes and optimizations).

Thanks!

It's... interesting? I don't mean that in the pejorative sense, it's just that there's been a lot of changes recently. The entire game now level scales (technically, players just have a much flatter level progression now and enemies have fixed difficulty).

So, that's entertaining. There's also a holiday event going on for another week or so.

Honestly? I don't know. I mean, my performance is kinda meh, but I'm on a seven year old rig at this point. The game does seem to run a lot smoother in general though. This one's really going to be personal to your system.

At a guess, you're likely to still see slowdown in Rawl'Kha and Cyrodiil. But in most of the gameworld, it should be in pretty good shape.

PvE for the most part stable. I was in a 100 Player Zerg in Alikir last night doing Dolmens and performance was no different than if I was with 5 players. For the most part, getting into Eastmarch for the current event (that has one terminus in the game, not 3 or more like you would expect) has not been a problem. Only a couple infinite loading screens, ironically during off times when it was slow. Wrothgar on the other hand gets weird if the group I am in has more than 12 or 16 players, so something different about that zone.

PvP, for the most part still has the same issues, but they are chipping away at it.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

IMO, the game is in the best state it's ever been in.

I'm not sure if you've played since the client went 64-bit, but I think that performance has gotten a lot better. I have multiple systems that I play on, all in the mid-beast range and, while I'll see occasional drops to unacceptably low FPS in hardcore PvP situations, the performance seems to have been significantly improved.

It's free to play, if you already own it, you don't have to sub to play... so go ahead and download and see how it holds up on your system these days.

It's largely a good performing game. But if your looking for end game activities there is not a whole lot.

If your looking for true group dynamics in dungeons . It's largely just dps .

If you like soloing and doing, dailies , and just screwing around in activities and grinding CP you'll have fun .

i was like you left and came back to be honest, the game is great
if you was a PVP player and looking to come back to do PVP ,
im telling you this know you will be doing PVE for about at least 2 months, its going to take a while to see what you want to do in this current states of game, because most likely what ever play style you had may not work in this current meta but you never know,

If you dont have any other game to play yes give ESO another try and i think you will like it.

They *** crafting up. They still haven't fixed clipping through walls. I came back and regret it. Now I'm thinking of leaving again.

The game can still be a ton of fun if you find a nice guild to hang out and do group activities with, otherwise it gets boring a lot faster in my opinion.

    @Nestor

I'm sorry friend, but "chipping away at it" implies consistent improvement - performance in PvP has degraded with One Tamriel.

Just try it and see. It won't cost you anything, and listening to a lot of comments from people who hold a particular view based on whether they love the game or hate it, and have loads of performance issues or none, won't tell you anything especially as they don't know your playstyle and you don't know theirs!

My understanding is that the PC NA server does have some issues regularly whereas the PC EU server does not, but then again just tonight there are PC NA complaints from players all of whom are using Verizon so it wouldn't appear to be the game necessarily that is causing people these problems.

    Again, try it and see!
