Gears are mostly boring

Now, I have played tons of MMOs from runescape all the way to wow (eso is my personal favourite). All had interesting and attractive designs for the gear but most of eso's gear is rather boring. It would be cool If they could add more diverse designs(literally all the gear has ths weird pads on both hips, and most of them have small shoulder pads and small shields and so on).We want big badass stuff to show off.

I'm not sure how to post images here, but you can type runescape gear concept art or wow concept art to check out the cool designs

Art is always a personal choice. I personally hated the design of WoW armor. Sure it was funny seeing a Gnome with a massive 2 hander running around, but when shoulders are so large they are clipping your head it was just poor design.

I personally like ESO over most other games. It's simple and more closely resembles real armor. I do wish they would allow us to have wardrobe slots or at least make like Wool items CP 160 so I can have the look I fully want, but other than that more realistic designs are more pleasing to myself.

OP is getting at the fact WoW had more unique armors/weapons while ESO has the plain old same weapons/armors for everything. And the few "unique" styles are useless or just don't look that unique.

Considering the devs for ESO are art devs, this is more than slightly sad. They can't produce art that even holds a candle to other MMO's, and they certainly don't even play this game based on their "balancing" actions. SMH...

    It's all personal preference.

For the most part I love the gear design in ESO. It's based a little more on the practical side.

The only bit I don't like and never have are those weird hip pads you mention. Especially when on some motifs they just kinda float there and are obviously not connected to anything.

While it's not completely realistic, I've held the view that eso leans more towards function over fantasy. Not solely, but there is a definite inclination.

Whereas the OP might enjoy this type of...fun stuff:

I personally find this far more attractive and believable:

    Great point, @Kova.

Player is feeling limited in their gear options after 40+ crafting motifs, various costumes, and hats (all dyable)??

Well, that's pretty much on the player ... and not on a ZOS selection of vanilla gear.

VO and wise mage used to be unique...and then celestial style dropped. Need more shiny things like the vmol weapons.
