Powerful Assault weapon and shield?

Hello Comrades,

I'm looking forward PA weapon and shields, which lockboxes they drop? The Tel Var Greater Lockbox Merchant? And how rare they are?

Rare enough that I've literally never seen one, seen on linked in chat, seen anyone mention one, or found one in a guild store. I've got 2 pieces total, ever, having bought the 2 I've seen.

This obviously is partially due to the fact that people rarely seek out this set, despite it's obvious benefit for group-wide theorycrafted raids, whether pvp or pve.

I have lots of Meritorious Service which, as a pvp healer accompanying a pvp tank before the procalypse, was an amazingly powerful combo. I don't believe I've ever seen weapons or armor of that much more common set, either.

(2 items) Adds 1064 Max Health
(3 items) Adds 967 Max Stamina
(4 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage
(5 items) When you cast an Assault ability, you increase the Weapon and Spell Damage of up to 4 friendly targets within 10 meters by 164 for 15 seconds.

Unlike Support AvA skills, the Assault skill line has skills that a stamina user might actually use all the time: Vigor, Rapids, Warhorn and Caltrops (also Detonation, but I don't see a magicka user using this set ever).

These things should be more common as it's one of those great things to slap on a newbie to pvp so they're contributing something very useful while still getting used to running around with a bunch of highly-practiced tactical pvpers. Much like Sanctuary or Hircine's Veneer.


By way of comparison, the Meritorious Service set has these bonuses:

(3 items) Adds 967 Max Magicka
(4 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage
(5 items) When you cast a Support ability, you increase the Physical and Spell Resistance of up to 4 friendly targets with 10 meters by 3010 for 2 minutes.

Note that this buff is a hell of a lot more powerful and long-lasting than Powerful Assault, with it's paltry 164 weapon damage. Useful only to stam DPS, and short-lasting.

The Support AvA skills are Barrier ultimate, Siege Shield, Purge (brilliant for non-templar healers' dual wield bar), Guard (probably something only a magicka tank would ever use in pve) and Flare, something that might actually be useful in CoA2 and nowhere else? Siege Shield has a morph Propelling Shield "Also increases the range of abilities with a range greater than 20 meters by 4 meters." This last skill is what allows PvP archers with the Eagle Eye 3-piece set to easily solo Resources, something those trying to get Vigor in a non-active campaign might want to take note of.
