Mending set useful for trash mobs?

I watched a video of vet maw and the healer was using Mending but stated it would only be good on trash mobs. Is this even true? It seems like a pvp skill.

Well, it depends on what other buffs are being brought to the group. I keep something like 9 healer sets on presets to change into depending on the content.

At the moment I'm running around in Sanctuary and Worm. I might switch to Prayer and Combat Phys or Mending and Meritorious Service. With a templar you can dual wield and stack two 5 piece sets and still get an Undaunted set in there.

Mending gives a fixed reduction in monster power, so in percentage terms it is more powerful against monsters with lower power, such as trash mobs. Same thing holds true for the reduce power weapon glyph, which stacks with mending.

Well, it works just like your weapon power presumably. I would assume physical/poison/disease? Come to think of it I never considered whether, when making the damage system make more sense so that spell damage affected destro staff attacks rather than weapon damage had when the game launched, if they made the same changes for mobs' combat system.

Monsters have only a single power stat, so reducing weapon or spell power on a monster reducing damage of all types.

Mending for certain boss fights and larger trash pulls such as in vSO can be handy. Damage reduction is good.

However, the Templar wearing it would need to keep their AoE heal down full time and place it well for it to be useful.
