Day 7 of Elder Scrolling Lag

Far-king ZOS with their horrendous server code etc. giving us players one HELLUVA time to play in massive lag. My ping was getting better the past few hours tho but suddenly, it shot up to high numbers again and I'm unable to play properly with constant 600-999+ ping (PvP & PvE alike). I don't mind a one-off massive lag that clears up within a total of a day or two (this has happened before) but THIS has been happening for almost a week in terms of total days since the New Life Festival event!
Players in the US are reportedly getting constant 50-100 ping ratings. I'm just wondering what's actually making the servers choke when dealing with Oceanic players. My friends from other Oceanic countries are mostly experiencing this horrid encounter as I do.

They should remake the trailer to this game to sound something like 'Immerse yourself in combat with features unlike any other MMO has to offer like swearing to the computer screen to magically fix the lag by itself, subsequently watching your HP bar go down suddenly to 0 from 100% after 10 seconds of idle animations and join the massive, raging community where the players are sick and tired of the company's incompetence to fix bugs/connectivity issues even to the slightest bit.'

Seriously ZOS, I've been a stern supporter of your company these past 2 years, overlooking all those shaet you did like poor management (yes I'm looking at those few top management people who, somehow, 'resigned' from the company without any particular good reason), and to add icing on the cake, I even argued with some people here who were flaming your lack of transparency just to defend you because I believed that you can make this game better but look at the current state of the game, lag hasn't improved since the inception of the game leading to frustrated players (like me) to rage and swear, bugs from launch are still there (especially Cloak, a few charge abilities etc.) and especially your far-king complacency towards the state of the game with no real plans to actually fix the problems the game is currently facing. This really made me think twice about my highly optimistic view on your company's ability to improve the game.

For what it's worth, other MMOs I've ever played and am still playing are not facing THIS kind of lag problem. Yes they do have lag spikes and all but it's nothing absurd like we experience in this game which really points to which end is causing the problem. And let me tell you the secret to that, it's not from my end.

Getting sick and tired of your far-king crap ZOS, patience is wearing extremely thin. And no this is not a 'I'll unsub if you don't fix stuff bla bla' blackmail or crap like that, plus it doesn't really matter if I unsub since I'm just 1 player out of the tens of thousands of players in here so I might as well say what I had in mind the past few months.

This is just a /bucketsplash to ZOS's seemingly lumpy faces just to wake em up. Nut up and do something FFS ZOS. Just do it.

Just to add one more thing to clear the air. If anyone finds that I'm being super offensive and/or sensitive, well newsflash for you, I'm VERY agitated since I've been paying subscription for the game SINCE LAUNCH from my very own income I earn IRL which I worked for. I don't want to waste my hard earned money on any game that is unplayable due to lag and shaets like that.

It seems to me that you've answered your own question. If US players on the US server aren't having these problems which only the Oceanic players on the US server are having, doesn't that suggest that the problem is somewhere between Oceania and the US server rather than within the game itself? Have you run some traceroutes, or checked whether you and your friends with the same issue are using the same ISP? Have you checked your ISP's technical forum or one of the sites that monitors global network traffic to see if there are any known problems?

Ive had no problems since that last update. PCNA Connecting from Australia. But prior to that last update I was in the same boat as you. 600-999+ ping spikes every few seconds. It was unplayable.

Luls, I'm posting this again because the lag problem is extending to almost a week!

And yes I've run all diagnostic checks on my connections/ISP/network traffics and all that. Everything seems to be working as intended (smooth connections) and nothing is bottlenecked. As I've also mentioned in the first post, other MMOs I'm currently playing (fyi, their servers are based in the EU and the US) aren't giving me the same problem as ESO does which really begs me to think that the problem lies within ZOS's server code and anything that has to do with receiving connections of Oceanic origin. Maybe they should revise and tweak them as they may be the culprit. Believe me, I tried to not point my finger towards ZOS but all my checks are telling me that the problem is not from my side.

Plus, all of my Oceanic friends aren't using the same ISP as I do but they are also having the same problem as I'm facing so I don't think that's what's causing the problem.

Is just lag the most of your problems? Dude I have to worry every time I dare to talk to the Banker or use a Dye station in a crowded area cause it usually crashes the game.

I was stuggling to play before the maintence on Monday, If I could connect to the server it was +999 but since then I haven't had a problem infact it is better than it was before the new life festival now, 250 instead of over 300.

Possible your internet just sucks, it is Australia after all.

For now, it's the biggest problem yes (other than the usual bugs that I won't bother to mention here luls). I, along a number of others, have been unable to play ESO since the release of New Life Fest. That's a 1/4 of a month gone just like that. I tried logging in every day since the 15th just to see the condition of the lag and everytime, it is relentless. Same old 600-999+ ping.

Delighted to hear that the latest maint fixed it for you but a few of us are still having the same problem which is nonsensical. @_@
I have really hoped the maint was going to fix it for me but nope!

I wouldn't say my ISP is the greatest ever to grace the virtual world of the internet but I have 0 lag problems on a few other MMOs (and to add, a few RTS games) and loading 1080p YT vids are smooth and fast. To me, my ISP is sufficiently fast enough to get me around the interwebZz so ESO should not be a problem. Halp meh!

To be fair, they are called the "elder" scrolls. They're not quite as fast as those younger scrolls all the cool kids are reading these days.

Okay thats way way better internet than me. I can only smoothly YT at 360p.

Whille I was having internet issues I went into my rounter and did the port forwarding stuff in the troubleshooting section. I also did a file repair and allowed the program through my antivirus. I suggest running through all the connectivity issues section in support to see if you can get some improvement.

I am wondering if it is something odd like one of the servers we in Aus have to bounce off to get to ESOs server just failing to get through. Run a Tracer, If you go to launcher settings, about and click on Game consultant it will run diagnostics if you look at the report it makes you can scroll down and find the tracer.

My ping to Austin Texas using speedtest is around 240 so playing eso at 270-320 is quite normal for me.
