[PvE] mDK build (no maelstrom/ can be easy to get)

Enchants : all magicka body pieces / spell damage jewelry / fire and damage for weapons

Rotation

It is really easy because it is not a punitive rotation.

Oblivion Flames then start fight, potion
>swap
burning + light attack + engulfing
>swap
eruption + rearming + light attack+ elemental blockade
>swap
Standard + whip +lightattack + burning + light attack + engulfing
> swap
eruption + rearming + light attack+ elemental blockade
>swap
... and so on

Omg, how this build is even possible ? It took me about 120 runs to get spellweave sharpened fire staff ... and i still need damn swordsssssss ....

Just for the mercy of RNG gods ... replace your sets opposite to right now.

It is harder to get sharp swords and staff moondancer

If you have vMA sharp staff, so you do not need this build, take 5 speallweave + 2 grotdarr + 3 willpower/moondancer/aether + 1 vMA staff + x sharpened fire staff (prefered moondancer/aether)

City of Ash 1 is soloable.

You can get sharpened swords sun set but it is not the best.


I put in this thread the best without maelstrom, the rest depends on your motivation and time.

Cool idea, but take that 'easy to get' out of the title. Three perfectly traited BoP weapons? That's like, a 100+ hour grind with slaves to help you. Soloing? Not happening.

This. It's powerful,no question about it, but veeeeery hard to get it complete.

Any particular reason for dual swords?
I just run dual staffs so i have ranged attacks and I don't have to switch mid rotation to elemental blockade.
If I hate running dungeons what can I do instead? Err I mean I want to run them for the story but not as a job. Also my other character sucks PVE which is why I want this one to be better at it.

What is the third ability on the second bar?.. I have never seen it before.

Beast trap? just seems so odd to me and why magelight over more flames? or just switching back to the main bar constantly to keep up the crit.

The purpose of chains?

Thoughts on elemental ring? or entropy?

hmm full magicka.. I stopped to put in 10 points into health but is that just pointless and I should reset my points back to full magicka?

I have seen a lot of diffferent builds and I am trying to work out what works for me best.

I am running 5 divines spell weave, medium/heavy divines Grothdarr, and transmutation arcane jewelry and sharpened fire staff. It does the job, and transmutation was super cheap to just buy from guild store.

I don't want to step on OP's toes here, but I'll answer what I can in the interest of giving you a swift reply.
1. There isn't really a reason to run dual swords outside of getting 2x 5pc sets. Dual staves will net you more DPS if you have the optimal staff setup (Moondancer mainbar, vMA offbar).
2. You can run crafted sets as a replacement for dropped sets. For example, you can run 2x Grothdarr (it's kindof a must for PvE DPS atm), 5x Julianos, 2x Torug's swords and a random non-set sharp staff on your offbar. Ofc, it'll perform worse than OP's setup or ultimate BiS setups, but you can still net good DPS with it.
3. Harness Magicka. It's a magicka-based shield in the Light Armor skill tree.
4. You underestimate the power of Minor Force, my friend. It's incredibly powerful - even if it's a stamina based skill. You don't use it for the damage it does, but the damage it increases.
5. Chains is a nice skill to have, but ultimately there are only certain situations where it's directly useful. For end-game content, this'll be Maw of Lorkhaj. For general dungeons, a tank could and should do the chaining for you so you can focus on DPS.
6. Elemental ring is kindof a meh skill. The DoT is refreshed any time you use it and the HP reduction from pulsar isn't useable on anything other than small trash. Entropy is a nice gold-saver, but there are also better options to run if you have the gold for pots.
7. It's not pointless if you're having problems staying alive. Normally, I'd account that to a sub-par healer, but for general 4-man content or solo play, 10 points in health isn't a bad idea at all and the DPS loss would only be marginal.

In the end, figuring out what's best mostly comes down to how you want to play and what feels best for you. Don't follow a build blindly as what works for one person might not work for you and your preferred playstyle.
