Lack of magic diversity

After playing Skyrim, Oblivion and many other of Elder Scrolls games, I found the lack of spell casting diversity a bit disappointing in ESO. I have been always a magic user in all those games and found none of class that can offer what I'm looking for in ESO. Don't get me wrong I have fun with all classes and level all of them up to LVL 50 but none of them offer classic spell such as fire bolt, fire rune etc. Would like to see more Alteration, Illusion, Destruction spells.

Am I the only one in this situation and do you think that ZOS should add more skill line for example in the Mage guild or Classes to add more spell diversity?

    I am used to more spells as well but I manage, honestly after skyrim I am sadlyy getting used to the games having less diversity. That being said I feel more like this is a good starting place as ESO and the single player games are really in different categories. Hopefully there will be more additions of not only spells but just class varieties down the road but as it stands I am content.

    Fire rune is a spell that's in the mages guild skill line.

    I do agree with OP though. For example I don't understand why there's a lightning based skill line (storm calling/sorcerers) and a fire based skill line (ardent flame/dragon knight) but no frost based skill line. The destruction spells are very specific and there isn't really much else useable in other skill lines (mages, undaunted etc)

    Maybe they could have broken mages and fighters down into subsections instead of one large tree, so they openened up more options.

    Frost destruction skill line was part of the Warden class, which was scrapped out before launch.

    Magic diversity is poor, ikr. We hope for spellcrafting to solve this, but imho I think we will prolly never see it in ESO :/

    And another thing. Since we are limited to just a few skills we can use during a single battle, it would be a serious step up to add another skill slot per bar. In PvP it could be compensated very simple, to reduce power creep - just further reduction on damage we deal to others, but another usefull slot would mean a world for many builds.
    Just look to typical mSorc, frag on both bars, magelight on both bars or something similar. Boring af if you ask me.
    Also, how many times did you cursed bar swap lag that ruined your rotation and you got killed in PvE or PvP? Additional skill slot would be great for leveling new chars too.

    Spellcrafting will never happen due to the way the game scales damage. For instance I have 50k magika and I craft a shock spell that costs 49,999 magika...only way to survive that would be to craft a shield spell that costs 49,000 magika....but then what do we do lol.

    Presumably that was the issue anyway. Then it's onto craftable ultimates that cost 1k ulti.

    Forums shut down due to the sheer amount of pvp QQ..

    Zos had discussed a spell crafting addition that may have brought some aspects you speak of into the game. However, it never really received any development and probably not much thought went into it before it was tabled.

    Currently no one is working on it and there is no plans current plan to reconsider it.

    Well all the magic "schools" from previous games are scattered in the class skill lines for the most part.
    Diversity does kinda suffer, but spell crafting won't happen imo.
