New Life Festival XP Broken?

0311shane
0311shane
Its seems the XP boost in the new life festival is broken. I will drink the brew and it will work for about 15 minutes, then I start getting standard XP. The boost still shows in my character effects.

The timer also seems to count down even when you're not on the character it's applied to. I still had some time left on a side toon when I logged out to switch to a different character, then when I came back the buff was gone.

I play on PS4 and boost had not worked since the hot fix to make it persist after death. I filled out an ingame ticket. Guess no double Xp for me!

This is why I drink the brew every time I am even near that keg.

As of 4pm, EST today, this is still an issue. Why didn't ZOS fix this when they fixed the other festival XP bug? Or at least it should have been fixed during this AM''s maintenance.

The XP buff from this event will continue to wear off even if you're offline. Are you all saying it seems to be turning off after 15 minutes (approximately) of play? Also, what platform & server is everyone on?

Thought it was just me. I drink from the keg, get the xp boost and it shows two hours. Playing PC NA. However, when completing any of the New Life Quests or any other quests I get the standard xp boost. This has been happening all day and I have run two characters thru the New Life Festival quest line. If some of you are getting at least 15 minutes of a beefed up boost great.

Yes, I feel like it's deactivating but still showing as a buff. PC NA, was playing last night and doing dailies, XP bar barely moved after less than a half hour. .

NA PS4. Im not sure exactly what triggers the turn off. Ive tried to pay attention the last couple times to what I do right before it stops. Still cant tell if its food, dying or wayshrines

The event xp boost was working fine yesterday. Seems since the maintenance today it is not working at all. I noticed I was not getting anything but the normal xp for doing the New Life Festival today and I ran two characters thru the quests after drinking the xp boost brew from the key. I also noticed no xp boost in cyrodiil after drinking the brew. It shows the xp boost is active but it is not working.

It will still wear off even when offline? Hmmm...to the best of my recollection, that's different from the jubilee and the hallowjack festivals. If I'm remembering it correctly, was there a reason for this change?

There is definitely a bug where if you drink the xp buff again while it is still active it cancels the xp component. Was able to replicate it on my a new toon without too much of an issue. And for those having the same issue just click the buff off your character sheet before re drinking the keg.

And it's not just a UI bug, tested the actual xp gains.

Out of curiosity, I just headed out to try to test this (PC NA) because all week I have "felt" that I wasn't leveling as quickly as expected with the buff. I've never personally looked close enough to see if the XP portion is dropping off.

However I didn't get far in testing because I noticed something even more odd:

    1. Killed a mob without the brew buff. The XP = 245
    2. drank buff while no buff was present
    3. Killed same mob with the brew buff on. The XP = 384
    4. Did the math: 384 / 245 = 1.567
    5. Killed a few more to verify and yup, only getting 384 per kill.

How is this even remotely equal to 100% experience gain? Shouldn't it be 490 XP? 100% gain does mean double XP right?

Also,. just a personal note: It's rather annoying that this buff doesn't persist while logged off. All other xp increase buffs seem to.

100% of the base experience, as I recall. Not 100% of the current XP. Are you sure that 245 is the base XP, with no other XP boosts or increases, from any source?

Hmm. I didn't think of that.

Well, I had no other external buffs on -- no scroll or potion in other words. The only additional xp gain would be from my ESO Plus, but that's only 10%. So 245 less 10% = approx 223. Then if I do the math based on that 384 / 223 is roughly 1.72.

    Regardless, I should still be getting 490 XP given that (223 x 2) x 1.10 = 490.

I just had this exact same thing as in the screen shot happen. When I moused over the buff, there was NO mention of the 100% increase in the tooltip. Just the mead name.

Coming back to this, took forever to get the 2nd half of CP561. Got 3/4 of the way through CP562 in less time. Frank from the keg before I turned in the 6 crafing writs, then did the 3 non dlc guild dailes from Monday, the 3 from Tuesday, and 9 festival dailies. Killing monsters was limited to ones needed for a quest. (Dolmens, undaunted daily)

Yes, it's so that the XP buff can't persist past the end of the event. With the Witches Festival buff, if you logged off after getting it, it was still there when you next logged in even if the event was over. This resulted in some people having a x3 XP buff at the start of this event, as their Witches Festival buff was stacking with the New Life buff.

I can understand that you don't want that to happen, but there oughta be a way for ZOS to turn the buff off globally at the end of the festival, so that even if a person still had some time left over, it was negated the next time the character logged in after the festival. After all, it seems to be turning off easily enough when you re-drink from the keg without turning it off first from the character screen.

Honestly, I have to think that it is more reliable to let the timer run while the character is offline than it is to try and address it after the event when the character logs in. Not only that, but the program that has to do this checking is extremely specific to the event, and the buff, and has to run every time any character logs into the game. Forever. The check cannot ever be removed from the game. If more special buffs are handled this way, they will eventually have quite the laundry list of special, possibly one-time-only, checks that have to run at every login, from now until the end of the game, to make sure you are not getting some buff that you should not have anymore.

As I see it, avoiding this is why they are letting the buff run while the character is not online.

I came back because I got an email about this event with the bonus XP, and while it worked last night on a character, it isn't working at all for another today (only found out after wasting over an hour and wondering why I was gaining XP so slow).

And yeah - my buff on my character that isn't working looks just like the screen shots above - mead buff without the '100% XP' noted - and neither re-logging nor re-drinking isn't changing it from the useless mead buff.

Not sure how or why you'd think I'd sub or buy anything if you all can't even get a simple XP buff to work right.
