It's right, at least the last one they gave you enough stones, this time it appears not so much.

You could probably make some gold from making the motif pieces for others, that whole anti gold for money stance from ZOS, you have to figure in what it would cost in terms of rlm, or have the customer buy the stones. If they are even transferable.

They are not. But if it's like the last one, when you deconstruct a piece of this style you have a chance the actual style item will drop. You could probably trade that item, but who would want to?

There is no way to farm for the Stalhrim Shard style stone. However, deconstructing a piece of Stalhrim Frostcaster gear created with a mimic stone can extract a Stalhrim Shard. Which can then be sold for gold or traded with other players. So the style stone will probably start to show up at guild traders and you could acquire them in-game that way. But I doubt anyone will want to go to 40 different guild traders until they finally find a Stalhrim Shard, not to mention they might be asking a lot of gold.
So can these be acquired in-game? Yes. But it will be a real pain in the neck and probably expensive. I have much more of a problem with this than the motif book itself in the store. The motif book? It is cosmetic and a one-time purchase. A reasonable item to put in cash shop for a game with no required subscription. But the inability to acquire the style stone in-game makes it feel like there are "maintenance fees" associated with crafting this motif. That I do not like at all.

@driosketch
In theory that sounds ok but in actual practice
1. Why pay to create something hoping to get a style item (it's already created by paying real money twice)
2. Are you 100% sure the style item exists ingame (I think that's the overall complaint)
