Where would I find this to make Frostcaster equipment? I hate that they do this, add a new motif, and it has its own "thing" you need to get that isn't a common one just to craft something.

It would be really nice if they removed the BoP status on mimic stones so we could trade them. So crafters didn't have to spend their own crowns to craft the items for other players.

I think that ends up being, "It would be really nice if they removed the BoP status on mimic stones, so players who have more money than is reasonable in the real world could easily convert crowns into gold, causing rampant inflation, and giving goldsellers one more resource they could realistically sell to players."

I understand your intent, but there's a real reason this stuff is bound the way it is. I'm a little surprised the frostcaller motif didn't have the same format as the Grim Harlequin, where it was 54 stones with the book. I'm also a little annoyed there's no way to obtain grindstones or Stahlrim shards in game. That really should be out there somewhere. But making mimic stones tradable is a bad idea.

If it's anything like the witches event crown store... The only way to get it will be to decon items made with mimic stones, or buy them from other people who have done that.

Are there no means to get the stahlrim shards somehow? Like from the festival that now started?
On the Halloween event we could collect stones for the motif needed.

There's a huge difference between being able to sell a piece of gear in a difficult to replicate motif, and a style stone that is literally only available from the crownstore.

I mean, the closest you could get to this (before 50 minutes ago) was selling grindstones. But that's already cutting a huge chunk of utility from the mimic stone.

The Witches Festival had two different Motif's released, the Hollowjack which you could farm the chapters and style material from the Overworld, and the Harlequin, which is a Crown store exclusive.

Frostcaller is a Crown Store exclusive, and the only way to craft that style initially is by buying Crown stones. Once you've crafted some pieces using Crown stones, deconstructing those pieces will give you style materials to make more, but you can't find the material themselves anywhere else.

I spend a lot of money in the crown store. I am subbed, I buy additional crowns during every sale, and I find this method a crock of crap.

I would rather spend 5,000 crowns on the motif and be able to grind for style stones than have to deal with the issues of buying mimic stones or trading.

The problem is that guilds that share crafters, have no way to trade for this style without bringing real-life money into the equation. Not to mention, it's a pain.

I think Zenimax needs to change the ideology behind these exclusive motifs to match that of the rest of the game. The game is built on a pay up front, play forever mentality. As someone who spends tons of money on this game, it's kind of a slap.

This is EA levels of "up yours".

This is what they do. They don't listen when people complain about being gouged, yet they listen and listen carefully when people come on here as they did with the Grim Harlequin motif and commended them on the amount of stones that were part of the deal. They obviously took that as some sort of indication that we could have possibly been gouged that little bit more next time out.

I really really hate the fact that ZOS is forcing people to buy Mimic stones in order to craft the new Motif styles. It also feels borderline pay-to-win.. let me explain -
The new motifs and the mimic stones are the only thing in the crown store that can be turned into gold in-game so people with lots of real world income can essentially use their real world wealth to become wealthy in game as well. They do this by buying the new motifs and loads of mimic stones, crafting loads of Stalhrim (or even Grim Harlequin) breaking it down and then selling the Style Mats on the guild traders for large sum of gold!

In order to make it fair they need to give a chance to find the new style materials in game as well... if they did this then I would buy the Stalhrim Motif in a heartbeat because it looks really cool but for now I am just going to pass!

Mimic stones can not be the only way to craft the two limit edition motifs. Stalhrim shards and Grinstones are listed as style items when crafting. There has to be a way to get them if they put them in the game. Certain chests on a map, certain bosses in delves? Come on ZOS this is pretty crapy. Makes me not want to buy Stalhrim but in the end my addiction to collect them all will win out.

For now, the only options I can think of are:
    1. Buy mimic stones from the crown store
    2. Search every and any guild store kiosk for the style material
I remember purchasing the Grim Harlequin the day it came out and I also remember seeing the style material in a few Rawl'Kha (Reaper's March) guild stores the day after.

There is no way to get them, but deconstructing pieces of that style which were crafted using mimic stones. For deconstruction you don't get mimic stones back, but the style mat that is actually needed.

I'm also dissappointed that they have effectively increased the price of this motif (technically they lowered the price but then significantly increased the price to use it), so I have decided not to buy it. The one good thing about not buying it is I don't loose another inventory slot (I don't sub anymore, so no craft bag). I'm happy if they keep the traits needed for crown store exclusives out of the real world.

I would probably feel differently if I were buying the motif, but I can't support such a transparent attempt to gouge just a few more crowns out of collectors so I will look on the bright side, my crafters inventory has been increased by 5% because I don't have to hold one more item.

Steps to finding the style mat in game.

    1. Find a friend with lots of real world money and very little in game gold.
    2. Have them buy a Frostcaster Motif and tons of mimic stones because they're rich and don't have much to spend their fortune on.
    3. Have them craft Frostcaster gear then deconstruct it for a chance at the style material.
    4. They send you the style material in exchange for some combination of gold and/or hugs.

There you have it. All you need is a rich friend and things are all better.

PS, if there are any people out there that want to be my rich friend, contact me in game @redspecter23 (PC/NA)

Why not just pay the friend to craft their gear in the style instead of deconstructing it just to give materials to someone so that person can craft? @_@

I usually craft all my own gear but I'm a cheap *******. I have no issue using in game gold to buy mats, and I'm not against paying crowns for the motif, but the idea of using crowns to craft gear piece by piece isn't something I'm fond of. Using the method above, I can collect style mats and craft Frostcaster the same way I craft anything else, with a higher style mat cost. I can even craft for friends or for others if the style mat has an established gold value attached to it.

There should be a chance to get these with crafting motifs. If we bought the style, we have to right to use it without paying further each time we want to craft an item!
