Mimic stone to create, shard when deconning the gear.White wabbit wrote: »So I'm getting this motif later so do we have any idea where I can pick up the shard as I don't really want to keep going down the crown store mimic stone route

It would be really nice if they removed the BoP status on mimic stones so we could trade them. So crafters didn't have to spend their own crowns to craft the items for other players.

I think that ends up being, "It would be really nice if they removed the BoP status on mimic stones, so players who have more money than is reasonable in the real world could easily convert crowns into gold, causing rampant inflation, and giving goldsellers one more resource they could realistically sell to players."
I understand your intent, but there's a real reason this stuff is bound the way it is. I'm a little surprised the frostcaller motif didn't have the same format as the Grim Harlequin, where it was 54 stones with the book. I'm also a little annoyed there's no way to obtain grindstones or Stahlrim shards in game. That really should be out there somewhere. But making mimic stones tradable is a bad idea.

They can already do that by selling the items they craft with this motif.
Are there no means to get the stahlrim shards somehow? Like from the festival that now started?
On the Halloween event we could collect stones for the motif needed.

I notice they didn't give us many mimic stones this time with the crown store motif.
The other poster was right, it isn't bound using mimic stones.starkerealm wrote: »johnnified wrote: »

There has to be a way to get them if they put them in the game. Certain chests on a map, certain bosses in delves? Come on ZOS this is pretty crapy. Makes me not want to buy Stalhrim but in the end my addiction to collect them all will win out.

1. Find a friend with lots of real world money and very little in game gold.
2. Have them buy a Frostcaster Motif and tons of mimic stones because they're rich and don't have much to spend their fortune on.
3. Have them craft Frostcaster gear then deconstruct it for a chance at the style material.
4. They send you the style material in exchange for some combination of gold and/or hugs.
There you have it. All you need is a rich friend and things are all better.
PS, if there are any people out there that want to be my rich friend, contact me in game @redspecter23 (PC/NA)

Why not just pay the friend to craft their gear in the style instead of deconstructing it just to give materials to someone so that person can craft? @_@

Buy 2000 mimic stones with $$$.
Easily sell in ESO for millions of Gold. -_-
Let's hope they DON'T do this.
