Why has my sorcerers voice changed?

My Sorcerer was my first character, created on the day the game was released, and I noticed a fair while back that it was no longer possible to create a character with her voice, it just seemed to vanish from the character creation screen, and yet she still kept it, which made me happy, but last night I was messing around with a friend doing emotes and stuff when I suddenly realised that her voice had completely changed! I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but I am guessing it must have been quite recent, seeing as I have literally just noticed it. Why the hell would Zenimax change my characters voice?? I wish they would just leave things like this alone, I know its only something small and probably sounds a bit silly, but its really bugging me... I want my old voice back!! Have they changed other peoples voices too? And why would they do it? It seems completely pointless and a little bit strange...

The only reason I could think of would be ZOS and the voice actor in question parting in an unfriendly way, but I don't think that would affect the work they did already.

I'm not using any of the personalities, her voice has just completely changed overnight for no apparent reason... Ah well, I guess I will just have to get used to the new one

Hi Sadie! Sorry you are experiencing this. We haven't made any changes to the player voices, so this is either a bug or the daedric gods are playing tricks on us again. The player voices are based off of Race and Gender ( for a total of 144 different voices you can choose from). Is it possible that you changed the race of your character or maybe your character is wearing a polymorph? ( we do change the player voice on some polymorphs to fit the visuals).

If not, could you tell us what your race/gender is, and if you remember what voice letter you selected? Or perhaps you have a video of a before and after? We'd love to look into this for you, so any info you can give would be a huge help! Thanks!

Thank you, my sorcerer is female and altmer, I don't use polymorphs and I haven't changed race or anything, her voice has just completely changed it was 2 years ago that I created her, so I cannot remember the voice number, sorry.

A small thing that I am sure others have noticed:

At the end of the tutorial when The Prophet gives his spiel about 'denying the will of Molag Bal' , the inflection was changed to make it less pleading and more forceful.

Maybe that's just something an alt-aholic would realize, but it was a good change imo.

I spent 1k crowns a month ago since one of my chars started to scream like a Breton whenever I jumped of a cliff or something. I was like, how is this even possible. So now I see I am not alone, idk that happened.
Also, when I used token to change my voice back to what it was, or at least something more suitable for a mDK Nord tank, I didn't see that age bar moved at all, so our chars don't age in game lol. It is not a change due to aging process.

Interesting. I was just noticing that the voice on my sorcerer seems wrong, too. I jumped over a wall and wondered who screamed, because it certainly wasn't my Argonian...but it was. The voice had gotten much deeper, though.

I thought maybe I was remembering incorrectly or maybe it was just that one of the yell variants was wrong. Unfortunately, I don't remember the letter I picked at character creation. The character was created back in the 3-day pre-launch.

Character voice is so strange in this game, I have to say.

Just listen to the voices in the character creation...For some reason, the depth, the tone etc, change so much among different moods of the same voice: you could hear a deep, manly laughter, then press preview again and hear an anime eenager battlecry.

It's hard to tell the difference between one voice and the other, as they seem to suffer from the same problem.

Yeah, I've actually got a couple characters that I've never been thrilled with their voice, because I'd preview one thing, get in game, and find that most of their vocals weren't even close. I've always chalked this up to personal errors, though, and even though it bugs me, I've never been bothered enough to pay for character redesigns.

Reminds me of when I was playing Wildstar there was a daily quest giver that always had me looking back twice at this particular NPC because he definitely a male NPC but had a female voice over... then I got to thinking ya know in today's days and times this can happen, look at Bruce Jenner for one.

I love it when ZOS communicates with people like in this thread... Its so good to see that they care, unlike everyone else on these forums will have you believe. Props to them, lets hope they can sort the problems out with update 13!

I haven't really noticed any voice changes myself though, but this thread intrigued me so I will check
