Anyone is using martial knowledge set? Is it a good set?

I wonder if any1 has tried martial knowledge set? Is it good for mag dps? Yesterday, I bought a purple ring, 20k. Now, I have a little bit regret cuz I feel the martial knowledge is not that good, even the julianos set is better than martial knowledge...

I'd be interested in the answer to this too - looks like it might be OK but I'm not the best judge of these things!

I have found unless trying to chase the Proc Meta, that a mix of a crafted set and a dropped set is a good way to go.

For example, all my Casters sport 5 Piece Julianos, have not found a dropped set that is really better. Although some like Destruction Master (IIRC) that boosts a certain weapon type might be nice, I like the mix of spell damage and crits I get from Julianos that benefits all magic builds.

So, mixing in a 5 Piece Martial or Mother's Sorrow or Necroptence or Silks of the Sun or Burning Spellweaver or whatever that boosts some aspect of magic that benefits my playstyle is a good way to go. Plus, I can sport a Molag Kena Shoulder with my two 5 piece sets.

Now, that being said, I have taken 4 of my Casters through the new Craglorn Main Quest. Guess what drops for me for every quest reward? That's right, Fire or Air Armor sets. Grrrrrr. So as much as I would like to give you are detailed report on Martial Knowledge, I can't. But the double spell power boost and the extra damage of all types is just too intriguing. I guess I will take yet another character through Craglorn to see if I can get any Martial Knowlege pieces.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I think, if play SOC, only need to keep 3 sets - TBS, Julianos, Elegant. I don't understand why so many ppl are pursuing Lich, Necroptence, Martial Knowlege, Spinner, etc...

Running lich or necropotence (much like clever alchemist) with any other set allows you to take advantage of two 5 set bonuses AND run a monster set by simply having the back bar weapon set up as one of the two sets.

Necropotence allows for massive shields which is a staple in how I play my magicka nb and magicka sorcerer in both PvP and PvE.

Martial knowledge has great potential but the extra 10% damage is unpredictable. As far as I can tell there is no visual indicator of the buff from the 5 piece bonus but I'm on console so no mods for me.

Spinner for me is too situational. For PvE I think there was some math proven that the set can be an overkill in penetration. In PvP it could help for heavy armor users but no such luck against shields.

Unless you're number crunching you can kinda get away with most sets. I run around with Julianos and Warlock on my Templar and doesn't hinder me much. There's probably some people spitting their coffee out, but I can hold my own in PvP and 99% of PvE is fodder.

    I have a 4 piece but not 5
I still need 4 more pieces with something other than prosperous or training

I assume it's gonna be good but haven't tested it out

There are a lot of light armor sets worth trying out for a magicka sorc.

But frankly, I will run out of dreugh wax before I can do a proper comparison to my julianos, elegant, vicious death gold sets...

That's a lot of purple gear to upgrade.

To some I'm as boring as sin; I use Twice-Born Star (5/5), Willpower (3/3), and Martial Knowledge (3/3). And I like it. I can't stand the look of the monster sets, so it's a great substitute for me. I wouldn't use 5/5 Martial Knowledge however, as the 5th bonus has long been known to be practically useless.

I use it for healing primarily, but it's of course okay for dealing damage too.

Simply put, it's the most amazing and all around perfect set ever devised. It has no substitute.

For PvP, Julianos/Spinners & Lich & monster set is way to go for desto/resto. Like it's kinda silly not to. You can stack damage and not worry too much about resources.

Even if you didn't go that route with Lich, Julianos/Spinners/Kagernacs would be better than MK.

Spell Power Cure is *** amazing though. Every healer should at least run that. Makes things quicker, why wouldn't anyone want that?

Really? It's the best I guess yes, and I totally understand why it's desired. But it's not so far infront of other sets to make or break anything. I used it for a bit, saw the number difference and was a bit underwhelmed actually considering all the hype that was around it. Additionally, I prefer the health and stamina from Twice-Born Star, not to mention the added customisation two mundus options gives me.

It should also be noted; I'm not out there to break records, or anything. Just to make sure I keep my guild and others I group with alive (outside of one-shots). And to survive myself and not be one-shotted etc. I can't heal anyone when lying on the ground. And for that TBC helps me more than SPC. Infact, I actually have a set of Heavy armour TBC I sometimes use instead-of/mix-with my light armour, to help with particularly hard hitting enemies (e.g. Veteran pledge challenges: The Whisper, High Kinlord Rilis, and so on).

It may not be the best, but for me right now I'm happy with it.

It honestly makes a huge difference.

Can you heal without it? Absolutely. Does having it make everything just a bit easier? Yeh. Why would you not to speed things up, even by a bit? It's not hard to farm either anymore.

I know we are getting off topic, but i just had to chime in on this one.

Wow, just wow!! You don't think boosting EVERYONE'S DPS and being a great healing set is not BiS??? I just don't get how people can think this. As a healer, your job is to keep everyone alive and provide buffs; dps is secondary. The key word here is BUFFS, SPC does this for you. I suppose if you want to be selfish and some what of a wasted slot, you`re golden
