Rewards still stink

I watched the interviews and was given a lot of hope when someone said that the rewards will get a lot better. Well, they aren't really better. It is nice that you get a helm. If it is prosperous or training, however, I am certainly not going to gold it out. So, the result is the same. More grinding. Grind, grind, grind. Sometimes I can find some good guildies to grind gear. Sometimes, I find okay players that aren't up to the content in WGT or COS and the experience is like 2 hours of root canal - then, to top it off - you get your light, prosperous Velidroth Helm. Not. Better.
The last couple of days, I've gone into a few Vet Dungeons for pledges and we were trying for some weapons and jewelry. Not one chest. Not one. What the crap? It has happened twice now. Once in Vaults of Madness and once in City of Ash. In COA, a buddy and I went back through the dungeon just to be sure - nothing.
So, in our guild, there has developed a whole host of urban legends about RNG. They say that if your luck is bad, switch characters, or log out and then log back in, quit playing that toon for the day. Blah, blah, blah. Please tell me this isn't so. I've worked on my tank for over a year now. I don't want to switch to have better luck. I just want you to understand that after a 15 minute boss fight, a training helmet is just the same as not getting one.

Sounds like my mom at the casino slot machines.

"No, if it's not wining with 1 credit, then you try 5 credits and more lines, then drop back to 1 credit and less lines, and then ...and then..."

Part of the problem is the itemization design. The trait system made it about the trait not the item or the set

I don't use the Sniffer addon, so I've no idea whether the rewards stink or not.

. If it did, maybe I wouldn't care what trait I got on my helm. And don' t even get me started about the crates. A dude in this same guild spent a hundred and twenty dollars on crates and didn't get a storm mount. He also didn't have enough gems to buy one. That is totally messed up. I understand about needing to make money, but don't kill the goose to get the golden eggs.

If it takes 2 hours to run vWGT then you should find a group that does know how to do it.

Its not a dps test it's a mechanics test.

It takes no more than 45 minutes and that's a slow run as I often shoot for the speed run time of 30 minutes (I already have achievement its just a good number to shoot for)
Make PC NA raiding great again!

    Down with drama!

What Mechanics Healer - Dro-m'Athra Destroyer

    Homestead Raid Scores
    vHRC 157,030
    vAA 138,287
    vSO 153,393
    vMoL 154,550

    Not raiding in Morrowind

Well, our record for WGT, with my good group is 25 minutes. I try to run it once a day. But, I've also made it my personal mission to help anyone in my guild get the monster helm that they want, regardless of whether they are an elite player or not. I just want better rewards like the interview promised in Pax West. Going through a few dungeons with no chests is not better. Giving toons with over 600 CP a Training helmet is insulting. I've given up the daily quests and just buy motifs because the quests have such a low chance of dropping anything good. Congrats on your RNG. It must be amazing.

Did you play before they made that change? It is leaps and bounds better now. Running a dungeon 50+ times to finally get a decent helm was a grind. What we have now is almost to easy and far from a grind, atleast monster helm wise.

As for the rest of it, will most of the dungeons use to give crap that was not even max level.

Would you rather they just hand everything to everybody? I wouldn't.

She/He's not asking to get everything "for free".. it's rather to get a fair reward for your time and energy invested.
In its current state the RNG system is like a lottery with far too low chances if you want a specific item (like a sharpened inferno from vMA).
imho the RNG is f**ed up and straight out unfair, because some players will have to invest a lot more than others to get the same reward. Like your friend beating vMA for the first time and getting the sharpened inferno right away, where you did a hundred or several hundred runs and all you got is bows, restos and melee weapons.
Would be fun to see some people at ZOS' (like @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_KaiSchober) have their income subjected to the same RNG-system they're using in the game! Some go home rich, some get almost nothing. I'm sure they'd change that system right away, but for us players it's good enough..eh?

Players don't want everything handed to them, but they want to be rewarded for their investment (i.e. by something they want, not a wagonload full of crap ;) ). Unfortunately that hasn't gone through to ZOS yet, otherwise they would take up one of the plentiful suggestions on this forum to alleviate the frustration of so many players.

They really need to look at single player games and how sideways progression works to keep people invested. In New Vegas, for example, the power armour variants all had different bonuses and caveats without any being specifically superior. The same was true of shotguns versus laser miniguns and so on. It's balanced to provide variety of play, and a number of options that people can explore whilst they're enjoying the game. MMOs could learn a lot from this approach, instead of just relying on the 3 G's over and over again. Nothing makes MMOs more outdated than the 3 G's (gear, grinding, and gambling).

Eventually, an MMO is going to come along with writing as strong as ESO's without relying on the 3 G's, and it's going to blow ESO out of the water. That's a worry I have, and it's a shame because ESO has a lot of potential. My problem is is that it's already so far detached from being a normal MMO. It's 90 per cent the way there. It's not at all like WoW, Everquest, Wildstar, or anything that's come before it. It's just sad that they're too afraid to take that one, final leap.
