Would you like more than two events per year?

I know that most of you want to see more content like new areas, with both solo and group content, also more PvE and PvP, but how about few more events? While playing a MMO for a certain time at some point I like to break from routine and do something else in game and I find the events to be the best way to do so because they add something new for a little time so you won't get bored after a while when your action become repetitive. Here are some suggestions inspired by other games and real life celebrations:

1. Frostfall Festival - October Fest like mini event where you can learn new recipes for beverages, maybe a memento or a costume, by helping the Nords with the celebrations (getting special ingredients for a special brew, recruiting bards or becoming one and take part on drinking games). Forget about mementos and costumes, a drunk personality will be better.

2. *Dibella/Mara's Day - One day event during Valentine's Day, you get a little accessory to wear different for every gender, also bonus XP for grouping. Or have to option to send something special to someone special.

3. Sotha Sil Celebration - This one is inspired by Lunar Fastival from WoW and Tinkerfest. It will take place on Clockwork City and is a celebration in the honor of Sotha Sil. During this event the players will take part on different competitions, like taking control of an Animunculus and send it to battle on an arena with other players Animunculi, battleling in arena with powerful Centurions and solving different puzzles.

4. Something that will occur during the Olympics - I never seen it in any MMO, but and event dedicated to the Olympics will be nice, where you can participate to races, archery competitions (need a new mechanic for this), duels where everyone will be equally scaled and more.

You can't call these events. That are just quests.

Look at other MMOs (LOTRO for example) and you know what an event should look like. :p

They did an anniversary event with the XP cake earlier in the year as well. For ESO's 2nd Anniversary. I agree, there are already several events. Perhaps the OP is new around here seeing the his Forum level is Soul Shriven.

But they were pretty much ***.

IC: same stuff as always going on, just more people/double loot

    Orsinium: same, just double loot

Witch Festival: farming the same dolmen over and over until you get all motifs and both hats

There were no challenges. No games, no horse races, no drinking events or whatever.
90% of the new players probably didn't even know that those were festivals.

The Witches Festival had 3 of the guilds I belong to playing a lot of "ingame" social time, so I think the events keep the game fresh and provide a distraction from the normal dungeons/farming/PVP we play daily.

or if you actually studied before making this, you will know halloween and new years events did not exist in game till this year. so your poll is very much jumping the gun and not necessary. we will see more events along this line. so dont need this poll about it.

You could do so much stuff. Drinking, dancing, horse races, running through a maze, playing in a theatre (where you had to use the right emotes), building a snowman, going through a haunted mansion and so on. While doing that you could earn new emotes, mounts, clothes, etc. There was a whole city, that was only available at the winter festival. Plus they added new stuff every year.

I voted yes because I dont want them to stop, but am ok wil the pace so far especially if they - repeat that's yet to be seen.
There have been a few cake week, Halloween, Orsinium and IC and the one about to happen Since march I think it was? there was a Mara scroll and wedding dress sale in the crown store mid February but honestly As for Maras day i 'd still like something for being married in game to a guy I met for a year and a half.

This is the exact reasons i voted no. The way eso does "events" just makes it seem like a distraction that drags on too long.

I enjoyed both the anniversary events-
IC event-I enjoyed, sewers were alive. Had a reason to go down there.

Orsinium-I farmed maelstrom about 50 times that week, and finished the trinimac style so i enjoyed it lol. Made it tougher to get leaderboard trial runs going because everyone was in maelstrom lol

The holiday event though was pretty lame in my opinion-
Witch festival-this one was the one irritated me...it never seemed to end. The novelty was over within the first night. When the event first started i seen people paying 100k for motifs on a trading forum...i feel bad for them now. There was no feeling it was an event, just people dressed as skeletons for 2 weeks. i just threw away about 100 hallowjack motifs out of my guilds bank

If zos made the event feel special, or even maybe just shortened them to a week or so it might be different

A couple of more holiday events would be great

The biggest issue now is that the Witches festival and the New Life festival are too close together, leaving a massive gap in the year were nothing out of the ordinary really happenes.

This tread was created to remind ZOS that there are players that are enjoying events also a request for them to be a bit more creative with future events. I forgot to ask the community to come with some ideas also, but remember that adding certain mechanics for events may be impossible without changing the entire engine.

Some people aren't really into events, or at least some will not bother until there is a shiny reward for them.

I do like the fact we finally got an event in the game, but the haloween event was trash.

Hey sit in a delve and grind for hours to get motifs and achievements. That's all it was.

At least in games like Everquest 2 and WoW some of the holiday events actually had a little quest line to follow. Sure it repeated every year and after a a couple years it wasn't that big of a deal anymore but at least there was some actual effort put forth on the dev's instead of hey just grind for hours, have some extra exp to most people won't complain.

I wouldn't mind more events, but I'd like to see more decorations appear in towns for them. Something that appears for the duration of the event and then disappears once it's over, NPC's dressed appropriately.

I view this year's Witches Festival as the "test" to see how things should go, and for ZOS to implement changes based on what happened. From what we've been able to gather, it looks like New Life is going to work a bit differently, with different activities going on in different towns and this seems like a step in the right direction. There also seems to be more quest/challenge based objectives, also a step in the right direction. (Hoping we see more festive decorations this time around too. How hard would it be to have static strings of lanterns and garland appear appear in town, and hats on NPC's, or a festive outfit, just for the duration of the event? They could have scattered a few pumpkins, green and orange lanterns around for Witches Festival and made the environment more festive!)

I don't want a new "holiday" event every other week though. I think Witches Fest and New life are good year-end events, and they could probably pull off a couple of week-longs that aren't farm/loot intensive and more decorative environment focused around Valentine's day and the start of Spring (You can earn a recipe, or a hat, or emote and send a bouquet of flowers that act as a decoration in the new housing)

There's a lot of potential, it just needs careful thought and more focus on environment to make it feel and look like an actual festival/holiday. I dare say most people would be fine with less "loot grind."

Events are great, but they are too long and too much of a disruption. Plus, they are not very 'social', it's just another grind.

Yes, yes, and yes! One of the things I dearly loved about WoW were the abundance of events. It was always something to look forward to and added that extra sparkle to the game imo. I enjoyed the last event and must say that the Hollowjack motif is one of my favorite looks. Well done.

With housing just around the corner, it would be neat to have some rewards from events that could be placed in your home.

ZOS would be smart to fill the year with different events. It brings in more players than normal downtime (school/holidays/vacation). I think one of the MMOs out there that has the right of it with events (at least the amount and timing) is Star Trek Online.

They have a Winter Event with all sorts of items you can obtain by participating. From weapons, to outfits to a nice ship at the end. Theres a Anniversary Event where typically players can amass items that can be combined to create powerful upgrade tokens for their equipment and a pretty nice ship at the end of the event. They have a Summer Event in which again just like the Winter Event you can obtain cool different items like HoverBoards, Jetpacks, outfits and accessories and a nice ship at the end.

In between all of this they also have other events that are themed and typically give out unique items.

With all of these events players are constantly flowing into the game to spend a week or two chasing after enough "insert token here" to obtain the ship or unique item. It works. Sure some complain about the amount of grind involved. But they log in nonetheless.

Im torn. While having random or recurring content can be great, I find my OCD taking over and smashing out everything I can on the event which precludes my usual gameplay. Sometime to the point of frustration because I really want to lv *this* toon but it's not geared well enough for the event or whatever other reason(s) real or imagined. So Im a solid maybe.
