First run at Maelstrom

Had my first run at Maelstrom today, been playing about 6 weeks now, 217cp. NB.

*Enters arena*

"This isn't so bad, I'm doing ok"

Clears the first few rounds, makes it to the boss of the first stage.

"I am awesome, first time here and I am smashing it, I could probably go all the way!"

Beats the first boss.

"I am probably ready for that veteran level I hear people talking about!'

Enters 2nd stage.

"Maybe I am the best ESO player! Maybe that's my thing!"

Beats down the first few mobs.

"I got this"

Next wave of mobs.

"Oh dear. They seem to be regening"

"I don't appear to be hurting them"

***PWNED***

"Maybe my skills need some work. And my cp. And my sets."

Did enjoy it though. Going to be rewarding the day I do knock it over!

If you're a stamblade, you're going to have a hard time clearing it first with it magblades are insanely easy compared to that

I'm a sucker for punishment, stamblade all the way.

I'm a stamblade in the 300cp range and i have cleared it.

Dont lose hope from people telling you sorc/magblades ftw.

Practice makes perfect buddy.
Learn those spawns and you'll get there in no time.

P.S Vigor is your best friend.

Do you have vigor?

If not, do pvp for a solid day and you'll have it.

Just started pvp yesterday. No vigor yet. Exited sewers and saw a 561 fighting some 2.3 million health beast. Thought "I can tag in here, red, that's ad, ah even if it's not he will probably appreciate the help". Haha! Appreciate the help.... My only solace is that he two shot me, not just one shot.

Hopefully the double exp works for getting the PvP skills up, I am not one for PvP. Maybe in the future, but prefer other stuff ATM.

You'll have to suck it up and just roll with a giant group. Don't go in the sewers. You get more AP up top fighting the war.

Just shout out in zone chat for a group. Make sure the leader is an experienced one. If not, leave and join another.

It took me a couple hours to get vigor, defending and assaulting keeps with a group of randoms.

I've done it in 2-3 hours alone.

Rules :

1. Equip Resto Staff
2. Healing Springs
3. Combat Prayer
4. Self buff/shield/heals
5. major fort

Buy 100 wall repair stones

When capturing or defending a fort.

Just before the capture go to the damaged wall FIRST. I *** you not, I've gotten 1.3k AP just from repairing alone! This is key during peak times.

Droping healing springs and standing back while making sure you're not getting flanked is hands down the best way to farm AP. This ensures you VERY rarely die, wasting time running back and forth is annoying.

I've done this on 3, going on 4 characters now for caltrops super dooooper easy.

OP, your story reminds me of a similar experience I had. I had already done vMA several times, and was beginning to learn the ropes a bit better. I had gotten some new gear, upgraded it, and was ready to try again, so in I went. I was MELTING things in there! The first couple stages went very very well. I was amazed at how much the new gear was helping. I keep going, and get further in to it, and things are still melting extremely fast. I thought "hey, maybe I can get a no death run!". I keep going, and I start to get suspicious. Things were going WAY too easy. I started to wonder if maybe my gear was bugged somehow, causing more damage than it should. I was beginning to think I was going to have to report this bug to Zeni.

And then I had a thought - "Oh man, I wonder if this is set to normal?" I checked, and yup, it's on normal. I left and reset it to vet, and continued on being a scrub in vMA. lol

It has taken me many many runs, but I have finally gotten it down to just over an hour completion time. It really does just take practice, so you will get there if you keep trying. I have no doubt you will do well, you seem to have the right attitude.

Got a stamblade level 25, I had fun in the arena, although I could not survive the 5 or 6th boss the one is the frozen lake and 3 platform, in best runs I am close to kill the boss, down to 1% and get killed.
I am strongly worry about the possibility to finish the arena in vet mode once champ. 160. and it makes me angry to see that only specific class & template allow u to clear it.

PS: I tried with my tank pve, champion 500+, and could not finish the 1st boss, i just don"t have any damage output. Haha.
