Some guy (no names, no pack drill) let slip that in Update 13 there might be some progression in the stories of the Vestige’s old acquaintances. So, while the PC servers are off-line, here are a few entirely speculative ideas of my own, based around the themes of player homes and rebalancing, as well as the luck that the number thirteen brings.
I don’t expect that any of these things will really be included in the update, except perhaps one of the bits about Margog the Hammer.
Don’t like my dark and nightmarish suggestions? Have some brighter ideas of your own? Let’s see them then.
**Spoiler Alert** for noobs. Reference is made to earlier storylines in the game.
Naryu Virian
Several Dunmer residences have recently come onto the market after all their previous occupants died suddenly in mysterious circumstances. Coincidence? Conspiracy? The work of the Morag Tong? Who would dare speculate, but, if you buy one of the ready-furnished versions of these homes you might want to check the mattresses for stains.
Lyris Titanborn
In a desperate, but obviously futile attempt to start a family Lyris performed the rites of Mara with Rigurt the Brash. They now live in the upstairs apartment of the low-rent Nord-style duplex. He’s the target dummy.
Guess who gets to live in the downstairs apartment.
(Don’t know what a “low-rent duplex” is? Google it, and think yourself lucky.)
Sai Sahan
Rebuilding the Abbey of Blades gave Sai Sahan the opportunity to discover his true vocation – interior design. He has finally admitted to himself that he was faking the whole sword saint thing in order to avoid confronting a few difficult identity issues (but I think we all guessed that anyway). The unimaginative and inhuman torturers of Coldharbour couldn’t break him because they were only repeating the torments he had been inflicting upon himself every day of his life. Sai has now gone into partnership with Margog the Hammer selling outrageously-overpriced prestige items for your home. He still doesn’t wear a shirt, but he has started oiling up.
Abnur Tharn
The Grand Imperial Estate was previously owned by the Tharn family. A careful search will reveal that Abnur is still hiding out beneath the villa in a flooded backwater of the sewers. He survives on a diet of raw Putterfish and carries on a one-sided conversation with the Amulet of Kings. In exchange for a Crown Inebriating Drink he’ll tell you any one of a hundred different tales in which he suffers injustice and betrayal at the hands of his allies.
Gabrielle Benele
Gabrielle bought the butterfly farm. ( Which was still vacant. Because none of you actually went so far as to sell Valaste to Sheogorath. Did you? Did you?)
Darien Gautier
Darien was ejected from Meridia’s realm after trying his charms on the deadric prince herself. He has found refuge in Quagmire where he serves Vaermina as an incubus, haunting the dreams of lonely lovely ladies everywhere. And, just think, female adventurers now have a bed to sleep in. I guess thirteen isn’t everyone’s unlucky number.
