It will be different for each of my characters.

My khajiit will pick somewhere in Glenumbra because she decided to move there to escape the Dominion. Whereas my breton will want anywhere except Glenumbra because she couldn't wait to get away from home. My Imperial retired to Auridon so he's obviously going to live there. My bosmer (created specifically for thieves guild/ dark brotherhood/ other things my other characters won't do) wants to live wherever he won't be disturbed by overly sensitive authority figures. And my argonian will probably want a number of small houses dotted around because she's fascinated by Tamriel as a whole and couldn't possibly stay in just one place.

The others I haven't decided yet.

In practice I'm probably going to balance out where they want to live, the kind of house they want to live in and what I can realistically afford (e.g. the Imperial and bosmer would both quite fancy a castle but they're alts who are lower priority for gold spending so they ain't going to be getting it any time this centaury).

Awesome that you've picked already. I'll be doing a similar thing where each will get a house of their own, but given that I have nine characters... yeah. It's a long-term project. :D

I know my first one is going to be my Dunmer setting up near Mournhold, but after that, we'll have to see what's affordable. I know my bosmer Hunter is going to want a wilderness lodge, while my thief will actually want a city place (it brings her closer to easy marks, and why would anyone suspect the cute little Breton girl next door of being a master thief? :) ). I have a couple cross-alliance races, so there will likely be a couple cases of a house's exterior in the local style with very unlocal furniture.

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

I want a tree house in greenshade for my main (who is a bosmer of course ^^) even though I always use Rawlkha as a "sell/deconstruct/bank etc" I don't want to live in Reaper's March.

My alt is a nord so I want a house in Skyrim too!! Far away from the cities though, I hope we can get a nord house lost in the mountains, that would be perfect!

I can' wait to get more info on the exact locations!

Pretty sure your house is across all of your characters.

All of your characters can use any of your houses, but you can also have multiple houses so you can tailor each one to different characters.

My Breton will go for something in High Rock, although she'd probably prefer something fairly isolated so I'm not sure if the Breton town houses would suit her. There's a house near Halcyon Lake that I might consider if the Orc style appeals to me, or I might just take the little house in Daggerfall. Otherwise she's always found Auridon pretty, and she's just started questing in Eastmarch so it's possible that there will be a nice Nord location that would work for her.

My other characters are still finding their places in Tamriel, but I might go for things that correspond to their races or general approaches toward life. My priority will be a main house for my Breton and then I'll see where I go from there.

I'm planning to do a good bit of real estate window shopping on PTS when that rolls around.

@MarkusLiberty Hmmm, you would appear to be right that a portion (not all, or even a majority) of Reaper's March is in Elsweyr. I stand corrected. I think the borer follows that ridge to the East of Rawl'kha. That would put 2 of the Khajiit houses in Elsweyr.
