that champ point skill that improves treasure

I can't get in the game and look at the title of the skill currently, but the champ point skill or trait or thing that unlocks with 75 points invested into the tree and improves treasure from chests... How exactly does that work?

It grants the player increased quality of items found in treasure chests. 75 points in the Shadow Constellation

I've never actually tested it out myself but I guess you get a better chance of purple rings from dolmens instead of blue etc

Does it only affect dolmen chests?! Thought it was on all found chests?

Ok, ty. I wonder how thieves troves are affected. The thieves troves have the ability to drop gear from the zone's set pieces.

Uh, all chests have that chance depending on their difficulty.

As for the original question: I'm not even sure if it affects chests from treasure maps. In my experience, the contents stay pretty much the same. As for other, "random" chests, the cp ability just raises the chance of getting a better quality item, i.e. you'll get a purple one if you otherwise had a blue one, *not* the chance of getting a proper (good) trait or getting an item at all (simple and intermediate chests not always drop set items). That works out pretty well though.

I have no idea what the correct answer is, but here's what I've discovered in trying to find out:

-It affects all chests, including undaunted and dolmen chests.
-It affects all chests but undaunted and dolmen chests.
-It only affects treasure map chests.
-It only affects the random chests you find out in the world.
-It upgrades the quality of items in chests.
-It actually upgrades the quantity of items in chests.
    -It does both.
-It gives chests the loot table of the next higher difficulty chest. (so intermediate drops like an advanced chest, advanced as master.)
    -It doesn't work at all.

So, yeah, this question has bugged me for a while now. I search for information on it and it seems like I get a different answer from every source, and even multiple mutually exclusive answers from the same sources. The one thing they all have in common is that they state their answers with complete certainty that they are correct.

the quality of goods from Thieves troves is deffinatley effected by your thieves guild skill level & possibly your ledgerman skill level
but i dont know if the CP passive works aswel, i think it might, but im not sure purple is the highest quality of goods you can get
but i do know that on my tank who can i go 'treasure map hunting' with loot is markedly better than on a character without the passive

I guess you are exaggerating here for comical purposes, or the people stating some of those claims clearly just read "something" about that somewhere and have not taken/used the trait themselves.

What I don't get is if this has "bugged you for a while now", why not just redistribute cp for cheap on some char and try for yourself? Won't take longer than a few hours. Otherwise just believe people that are talking "from their experience", which implies that they did not check the games' code base, but have a good guess from what they observe.

The one true correct answer - It will help you one way or another.

If you are serious about treasure chest hunting, then get this passive before you farm for them.

It definitely works for random chests, dunno what else. For random chests it increases the quality and quantity of items. You will have better chance to get set items from low quality chests (simple and intermediate). You (may?) get an additional set item from master chests. Overall the quality of items increased - ie. you have a better chance to get purple jewellery from high quality chests.

It works, but for some reason ZoS decided that it's impossible to get gold item from treasure chest, so it's only viable to speedup gaining purple gear

I ask because I'm fast approaching the 225 points needed to have 75 in the 3 categories and I like hunting chests. Now I'm more eagerly awaiting getting the remaining cp I need.

Can confirm that it actually works better than what you think it does. While farming for spinners my wife did her cp to get that and the difference was EXTREMELY noticeable. Makes it actually exciting to open simple chests.
