The Siege of Cradlecrush - Target is Immune

I found a few reports from a year ago and tried that people suggested but no luck, so though I would open a post to see if anyone else ran into this and a way to fix it now.
I am doing the 'The Siege of Cradlecrush' and at the start where you poke the giant. The kick animation happens but my character doesn't move. In the top right I see 'Target is Immune'.
Tried opening a ticket but got a generic 'due to our dynamic questing system there is nothing we can do, relog for 15 minutes or wait until a patch that fixes it'.
I have tried dropping the quest, waiting a few hours and getting it back. Logging out for a few hours. Tried with no armor/weapons on, just in case it was because of higher stats.
Any suggestions on how others fixed it would be great.

nadirianSoul ShrivenWell...it's now getting into late March '17 and I've just come to this quest in the first time in ages to find it is bugged..and also alarming that someone posted on this in December and there have been patches and updates since then...
I also tried a number of steps to get round this...including trying to take any appearance items off in case it was the non-armour type gear that was bugging it...no luck!0
