What is with this loot system??

Returning player (2.5 years hiatus, I can't believe it's been that long?) and I am wondering what the hell is up with this awful loot system. Why has it reverted to a basic gambling system for even just quest reward loot? I started the Dark Brotherhood and my first two epic rewards were out of a crate which gave my Nightblade an awesome two handed mace and light armor boots. Yay. Off to the vendor to trash. I know i'm griping about one thing when no doubt many of you will have a long list but to a returning player this is a big turn off.

My friend, you just hit the tip of the iceberg. As it has since game release, loot system sucks. Rewards are too random, they don't improve much with content difficulty, and the RNG on traits is disastrous. Welcome back to ESO, the game you hate to love and love to hate!

You might want to refer to the patch notes about a month ago that tell you where all the set drops fal outside of dungeons.
They tend to be much better and quest rewards in my opinion were never useful compared to back then and now

I mean, a nightblade CAN use a two-handed mace or light armor boots. Perhaps not both at once, but like, you could use it.

I hope you don't think that nightblades are restricted to using dualwield/bow and medium armor.

Quest rewards have always been a specific item. There is no RNG with quest rewards. Unless they changed something since I last did quests.

It never meant that quest rewards gave you items specific to your build.
Make PC NA raiding great again!

    Down with drama!

If you have a problem with that, you might want to go back to being a former player. This game is an rng monster.

I can only assume you are taking about one of the daily quest? Fairly sure the normal quest always drop the same items.

Good luck finding any decent mmo without rng loot.

Yes..? That shouldn't be odd. Other MMOs had worked this out long before ESO even launched. Quest rewards would either be auto-selected to best fit your class, or you'd be given a variety of weapons/armour types to choose from so you'd always get something worth while for completing quest chains.

I remember complaining about this as well, a long time ago. It's incredibly odd to complete a quest for, say, the king of Daggerfall, and he rewards the "hero" in front of him who happens to be dressed in hooded robes and wielding a staff, with a plate helm or a giant mace. Thanks..? You can't find something even a little more appropriate for me?

The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild questlines both pay out with random loot boxes. Also, daily quests, but that's a different animal.

But this is a different kind of MMO! Just because other games did it better, doesnt mean it was better...

Even if your reward isn't tailor made for your class, it can still be deconstructed, researched, sold, or even used. Unless you are a role player I don't see why this is an issue, that the King of Daggerfall didn't notice your attire and find you something to compliment it. I don't think quest rewards need to be worth while, especially if they're solo quests, if you want good gear you should have to group with others and do harder things than just a simple little quest. Best quest reward there is, is a skill point in my opinion.
