Tips on making money?

Hi all,

I'm a recent returnee, excited about the housing systems in the pipe. However, I'm dead broke, and think I should spend some time grinding for cash to feed my housing need. But I've NO clue how to proceed. A bit about me: solo PvE'er (with crummy gear), and 50 in most of the crafting profs (but still working on getting my research in). I also can't stand playing the auction house/buy low/sell high games. I just don't find it fun in the least.

So, any tips how/what/where I can make some steady money? Anywhere I can grind? Anything I can grind for? Anything I can craft and sell to NPCs?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Oy.

Grind dolmens that drop jewelry from desired sets and sell that.

You can run delves and loot everything you come across and sell that to vendors.

Just pick up anything you can pick up and kill anything you can kill. Sell the normal stuff to vendors and the good stuff to players.

and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Finding new homes for "misplaced" items via a person called a "fence" can be fairly lucrative, and probably a bit more stable than hoping to get just the right drops on set items you want to sell.

Not the best way but a good way lvl up ur crafting and farm nodes then refine them to get purple and gold upgrade mats and sell.

Go to IC farm tal var stones then buy the flower bags and sell stacks of flowers always sell good

Crafting writs those exp potions pages are selling for a lot of gold plus gold mats drop from the writs

Or get some gold together and a feel for the market look for items being sold for dirt cheap and flip for gold- found an arcane trainee rings for 30k flipped it for 75k

I found it more lucrative to sell my unrefined raw materials. Especially when my crafts weren't maxed out, and I didn't have skill points on the passives that increased my chances of getting better quality tempers.

I also farmed reagents, specifically columbine. Although it's not as lucrative now, it's still quite easy to sell if you put them in small stacks.

That would imply having a capital from the start.

I would suggest farm and refine materials (run around Bal Foyen or Khenarti or any other spot with a high concentration in mats), and sell tempers.
Or, if you have the DLC, farm tel vars, buy apothecary satchels and sell their content.

You can also go farm a public dungeon for the sharpened weapons of the following sets, which are very valuable : spinner (Malabal Tor), Spriggan (Bangkorai), Sun (Stonefalls), Elegant (only swords though, Auridon). But that's more time consuming and luck-based.

    This is good advice.

Flowers to make spell and weapon dmg potions sell well (as do the potions ofc).
Motifs sell well so grind dailies that can drop those.

These are steady income tips however, you wont get rich in a hurry.

Before use sell anything in a guild store, make sure to download the master merchant addon (if on PC) to get the most out of your sales.

Many have suggested selling items in guild stores. I don't belong to any trading guilds. Do guild vendor NPCs have buy orders? Or do I have to join a guild?

Scam people, the best sellers in ESO are those who can scam as many as possible without getting busted.

You have to join guilds in order to sell through guild stores. You can always sell in zone chat though.

why you can sell probably half the loot youfind to other players for more then most of the items you loot combined.

Don't spend money on useless stuff you won't use or need, like Motifs(unless you plan to earn crafting gear), mounts(one is enough). Don't upgrade your gear to gold quality unless it's an endgame piece(waste of money).

combine multiple methods of money making so you don't get annoyed or invest to heavily into one, such as:

-stealing, easy to make 10-20k a day on your fence limit and depending on how much you stick to only selling green and blue.
-crafting, doing writs (that give a wee bit of money) farming, selling the raw mats or gold tempers from anywhere in the 5-10k range per.
-rare items, farming for set items that are high value at the time.
-flipping, watching stores for things posted low and buying them and reposting them for higher.

    pick your poison :P

I thought this was about making real money to buy crowns for houses. If you think they'll go through the effort to make something like housing then sell it for fake gold, you'll probably be disappointed.

    Go to imperial city.
Find some enemy players grinding Tel Var stones, kill them and steal that hard earned loot.
Escape, bank, and buy stuff people will want, put it on a vendor.
A full purple black rose or reactive set will fetch a good price.

I've had nights where I... err. "Borrowed" over 20K stones and the whole BR set sold the next morning.

They have already said majority of houses will be available for gold or crowns.

I saw you don't like buy low sell high but I have found that to be a fairly easy way to make gold. Once you are able to consistently fill 30 slots in a trader you should probably find a good guild with a trader in a main hub.

I built my gold up to a point where I could buy low and sell high, by making 160 cp gold glyphs and selling them. But the market went down a little for those so not as much profit in them as there use to be, atleast on xbox.

    Actually, YOU will be disappointed.

    It's been released information:
Purchase unfurnished housing for in game gold.
Make your own furniture / decorations / etc, for the price of farming the mats yourself or the price of in-game gold other people sell for.

The info released so far indicates you could buy 40 houses and all the stuff to go in them for in game gold. The 'crowns only' luxury exclusives are quite a minority when compared to the 2,000+ things you make yourself for your house.

Did you search the forum? There are many threads that address your topic, many of them with more thought in them than many of the replies you've seen so far.

First thing, join at least one or two trade guilds. You can then monitor the guild sales history and get an idea about which items sell a lot and for how much. If you play PC, get Master Merchant addon. It''s not perfect, but the PC community pretty much uses it as a standard.

Reliable items to sell: raw materials, all but green ore tempers, other purple and gold tempers, refined materials (not nearly as good as raw though), any of the harder to farm motifs (especially when brand new), Perfect Roe, in demand gear (RNG, baby :D ). Some items are not high priced, but sell quickly: Intricate trait items, higher level glyphs.

Don't spend money. And just play normally. I know that sounds cliche, but when I came back about 3 weeks ago. I decided to level a new character to get my bearings.

From 1-50(cp12-160), I made 150,000g. I spent almost half of that getting 'settled' in able to craft my own sets and have my nightblade capable of making medium armor and bows. I'll be leveling a templar soon and will likely have another 150k after that.

Its not the most efficient way, nor the fastest way to gain money in ESO. But think about this. You're leveling those toons anyway. Just save the money you make doing it and you will have a large sum to work with. Then you can fund all the get rich quick schemes people might suggest.

Alternatively, do the 3 boss run in crows wood and hope to find a sharp red mountain dagger. The other stuff is also easy to sell to, the shoulders and bracers, especially if they're in good traits. They drop like candy. I found my first sharp RM dagger today and became an instant millionaire (always had around 400k spread across 3 characters), now I have 1.5m sitting on one character.

took me almost 8 months (and 8 characters) before I was able to sell at a "premium" guild store - however, there are plenty of guilds whom do not charge a weekly fee for selling...

do a little digging around in the guild recruitment section to find one...it takes a while to get your merchant game rolling - but, once you do it's fun (kind of) and great to get mail all day with coin in it from selling stuff...

even if it doesn't seem like all that great stuff - remember, there's a lot of crafters out there whom need to do research on items...
