What is the Gold Vendor?

Can someone explain exactly what the Gold Vendor is? I was gone from the game for about a year and now, being back I've heard about the Gold Vendor but don't fully understand who or what he/she is?

From the posts I've read, I've gathered:

They are in Cyrodil
They offer gold jewelry for random sets ever so often (how often it changes, I don't know)

Actually... that's it. Do you buy it with money or something else? How often can you buy from them? How often does their stock change? Do they sell anything besides jewelry?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can tear down the veil of ignorance!

It is a khajiit that appears at one of the safe zones in each alliance territory in cyrodiil (one of the gates you port into cyro at, the one with the way shrine)

It sells jewelry and monster set items for a lot of gold or AP

It shows up on the weekends only.

They appear once a week on Friday afternoon for a few hours in the same safe part of Cyrodiil that has the bank. So the inventory changes weekly.

In addition to jewelry they have monster masks or shoulders.

You can buy things with gold or alliance points.

And, please note, Weekend means Saturday, not Friday Evening for most people. This means around Midnight Friday Night for most of NA, the time varying by time zone.

However folks in Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Rim get to see the Golden on our Friday Afternoon so you can get advanced notice of the offerings for the week if you know someone from that area.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The gold vender is the result of PVPers complaining about playing the game to get monster sets. ZOS's solution: sell BIS PVP traits on monster sets for AP and completely useless PVE traits for gold.

Until they sell Divines Monster Pieces, I have no use for that thing.

Lacking one piece of Divines because you have one Infused Helm is not going to make any meaningful difference in your build or success rate in PvP or Trials. Or your stats for that matter. It is a non difference.

All of the monster set offerings for gold are infused. Both head and shoulders.

Here's the record of what's been offered.

If they were, I would kiss @ZOS_RichLambert on the mouth. Unless that was a very recent change, monster sets for gold are infused (worthless for competitve DPS) or impenetrable (BIS for PVP) for AP.

Edit: @Nestor Also, one piece does make a difference. Is it huge? No. But to a min/maxer, one armor piece that is in the wrong trait will make you want to rip your hair out. Haha. For one, most people arent going to make a well-fitted shoulder gold. And again, why is it the PVPers get BIS and PVEers dont. I would have no problem with infused pieces in the gold vendor if they say gave you well-fitted for AP. Well-fitted is certainly useful in PVP, but its hard to call it BIS.

Saying infused on large armour pieces is slightly over dramatic, if you are after resource, with mage mundus its arguably better. It's only for the % chance stones like thief etc where divines is better.

    @Ilsabet @Oreyn_Bearclaw

Sorry about that, I have shopped her before and saw Divines on pieces so I thought the Shoulders would be divines. I could have sworn one of the Shoulders I saw was Divines, on set I did not care about. Most of the sets she sells are not interesting to me so I did not dive too deep into the traits. But, then, I have never been one to worry about traits on a set with a good bonus.

It's a .8% difference in Critical Strike Chance per missing Divines Piece on an item improved to Gold. So that would be 1.6% then for not having two pieces. Still not enough to worry about as the set bonus is far more important than the lack of less than 2% Crits

So one of my points still stands, not enough to worry about.

Which is any PVE DPS build. No PVE DPS that is competitive is running the Mage mundus. Dont get me wrong, infused is certainly better for a damage build than say well fitted or reinforced, and for a tank, infused is arguably BIS on big pieces, but nobody wants infused shoulders. These cost a lot of gold. If they had Divines pieces for sale, I would pay double what they currently cost. For infused, its just not worth the gold. I wouldn't even pay 5k for an infused shoulder piece.

This alone would not be an issue, but I do have a problem because the best PVP trait is arguably Impen across the board. So a PVP player is able to purchase a BIS piece and a PVE player is not. I see an imbalance there, maybe others dont. Helms, I could care less about. Any helm I really want I can grind for and get within 10-15 runs, assuming my group is open to trades. Shoulders, well, you could turn in a thousand keys and not get those divines shoulders you were after.

RNG must love me, I have turned in less than 20 keys and I have 4 Monster Shoulders in Divines. Of course two of them are from sets I have no use for. So, maybe RNG just teases me.

You have to get past that. No Death Recap I have ever seen showed me that if I had just 40 more of a stat or .8% more criticals I would have stayed alive and won. Its more like if I had 5000 more health, that last one would not have killed me or if I had 400 more damage I would have won. No trait is going to give me 500 more health, not to mention 5000 more health.

I've gotten Kra'ghs shoulders in med divines after only 18 keys, and the helm medium divines on first run of FG2..

Then again, I still haven't gotten veli divines shoulders after 40+ keys now - and their are less freaking shoulder pieces in that chest lol

It certainly is. I farmed Red Mountain sharp daggers for weeks on my main, turned up nothing, not even a RM dagger of any kind. Went to do the mage daily on my level 45 alt and got one first time. Wasn't even farming for one either due to my level. Sometimes it's just better to laugh otherwise it's enough to drive you to drink.

    Impen sucks.

Half the posts on this forum are about how it's too hard to kill tanks. If this stupid hive mind everyone has going about impen being "BIS" wasn't around maybe you'd all do enough damage in Cyrodiil to actually kill those "unkillable" tanks.

Even better is that many of the best PVP players gimp themselves out of fear of riding 90 seconds on a horse because some boogeyman build might be proccing Grothdarr in the shadows. If these people threw off the training wheels they would be running around like Sauron.

If someone hits you with a 50k ultimate crit with 0 impen you're probably dead. If you have full impen and max crit resist you're still getting hit for 25k and highly likely to be dead within 3 seconds anyway.
