Currently farming for elegance and can't determine why sometimes I get only gold and other times I get loot.

Is there a timer per boss, number of bosses you can loot in x amount of time or something entirely different?

There is a cooldown of sorts on boss loot. Don't know exactly what the time is but yes that's what is happening.

Blackfyre20 is right, there is cooldown on boss loot. I think it's something about 5-10 min. You don't need to run too quickly I noticed, that if boss is dead, appearing another player makes his respawn quicker. Can anyone confirm this?

I think you may end up getting a bunch more gild cause you kill mobs of about 4-7 and if you pull multiple mobs you can get like 300+ gild per kill. I think I farmed 40,000 worth of gold one night (but that was from selling the equipment that dropped too).

Of course now, I do my farming and gathering outside of dungeons for a chance at Aetherial Cipher drop and Aetherial Dust

For delves I've noticed for the first time entering a bosses room, the boss will instantly spawn. Otherwise it is a 5-10 minute cool down on boss spawn. If you killed the boss and someone comes up that has not encounter the boss yet, again instant spawn, upon death timer starts again.

Group delves follow a different set of rules (i.e. limit "X" amount of bosses can be up at time (varies by dungeon and number of bosses in dungeon) and 5-10 minute timer if boss up limit "X" is not met).

There is an individual timer as well as an overall timer. It may vary from dungeon to dungeon, I'm not entirely sure. Once you loot your first boss, you are start a 5 minute timer. You can loot 3 bosses for loot (maybe 2 in some dungeons), then you need to wait for your overall timer and individual boss timer as well. For best results, hit multiple bosses. Don't just camp the same one. If you're just looking for boss loot, you can hit 2 or 3 bosses for loot, then log into a new toon and do the same thing. You can then log back into your first toon and the timer will be pretty much ready to go again. If you only use one toon or don't want to relog, do other things while you're on boss cooldown like looting chests in the dungeon. With treasure hunter on, you can get set loot even from simple chests. Also remember that if you're in a group with others, you may have loot waiting on a boss that was killed close to you that you weren't there for. If you seem to be missing a loot drop, this may be the case.

You could log out and hit them on another character, if that wasn't currently bugged. Hopefully that "fix" will come quicker than most.
