With housing... why visit cities?

I mean, if we can have crafting tables in all out houses - what reason will there be to revisit old cities?

The bank, I guess - although using crowns you can get a banker to go into your new home...
Daily quests.... but that's limited to a few cities I believe?
Guild Traders seem to be the best reason...

Is there anything else?

Don't think they will be deserted, but yea we'll probably see less populated cities. Welcoming change if you ask me tho.

Housing will only depopulate Tamriel for a short time until players get bored of housing.

Does anyone know if we will be able to quick travel to our house? That would be nice, if they have a crafting station in it.

Some of the houses are in the cities so people who don't want a big house or can't afford it will live there

Yes, you will be able to - and you won't have to pay the fee that you would normally pay for wayshrines.

Personally, I think you should still have to pay, but it's not a big deal really...

Quests, DB dailies, thiefy opportunities, things like bag merchants and horse trainers that won't be available at home, guilds, hubs to meet with fellow guildies or RPers, writ boards... The crafting areas will be a bit thinner, sure, but there are still reasons to treat cities as hubs.

Why indeed? Real life happens outside, and real life is scary. O_o
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Aside from the socialization factor, I didn't read anything about Crafting Writ Boards being in housing. So, there's that if you're a crafter.

Bank/non-writ crafting takes like 5% of time I am spending in cities, so I don't see how it will change with housing.

As all my toons doing writs my main concern is there is no reason to park toons in the house....

I was ready to buy the biggest house in Shadowfen since it's the best crafting city by a mile.

But now that I can build my own crafting workshop? Sorry. I'm probably going to live in the most remote location possible. And if I can get writs in my house ... gone forever. ESO hermit life shall begin in earnest.

That is a good thing too. I find cities to be laggy and annoying.

with most things people make gear wise, they are already not in cities but out at the set making locations, so I don't see this being a big thing.

Most likely you'll still need to go to cities for guild banks and guild trader access. You'll still need to visit for other guild's trader NPCs as well.

I haven't paid for a wayshrine since I discovered quick travel.

Only reason to go to town will be the crafting or mystic metchants, guild trader/bank, stable and repairing armor.

I am fine with this since people have turned banks, crafting stations and the streets into dueling arenas. And no creepy role play chat.... The less I have to go to town the better.

I'll probably park all my characters at their house.
