Eliminate Guest Campaign Lock to Balance Pops

Just an idea that came into my head, may be worth discussing the pro's and con's for, but do the guest campaign restrictions make sense anymore? I get the home campaign and tying rewards to that, but wouldn't it be great if people could take whatever character they want to play into whatever guest campaign they want, whenever they want? Spread out the population and not lock characters into only certain campaigns. It would be great to hop around from campaign to campaign looking for some competitive action if your home campaign isn't doing it for you at the moment.

The problem with this is that a certain type of person will only play on a campaign they are winning. (I know several former AD and EP that have been running DC chars in PC/NA Trueflame because DC has won thelast few cycles.) If they log into their main campaign and it isn't to their liking they will find a campaign that they can zerg people down on.
I believe allowing a person to have multiple factions in the same campaign was a mistake.

But wouldn't that still serve to spread people out among the various servers? Rewards are still tied to the home server right? So if you're red and your home is Trueflame, you're incentivized to play in there for rewards. But if your buddies want help pushing emp in a different campaign or you want to go farm the sewers somewhere else, then this would give you the option instead of being limited to two choices. This kind of happens now, all of my buddies have different guest campaigns, but the same home campaign. If the PVP is bad in a particular campaign, then we will look to see where we can find some good small/medium scale battles.

Yeah I agree. I only have scourge and haderus on my characters main and guest because all the others are usually dead. I want to see if some of the dead campaigns have people playing, but being unable to switch for how many days deters me. When AD zerg the map in scourge at night I go to haderus while they take empty keeps so I never get to switch my guest campaign. It sucks though because Haderus lately is becoming the same with ep zerging down the map at night so I hop on a blue or yellow in haderus.

not sure what you are talking about. are you asking about playing another faction toon in same campaign as another one of your toons? or are you asking about being limited to only 2 pvp campaigns at a time?

Kind of my feelings. I don't like the zerg play, but will participate in these campaigns with a small group. I'd much prefer to try the other campaigns, but the knowledge that once I zone in I will be stuck with that campaign for a few days is a disincentive. I think that may be why campaigns like had, scourge, and trueflame are so big. They are the only consistent place for action, so you're stuck with those whereas you may prefer to hop onto chillrend or something if there is some small scale going on there.

Being limited to only two campaigns at a time. I basically just wonder if the timer they put on changing your guest after zoning is disincentives people to go and try some of the smaller campaigns and contributes to the numbers in Had, Scourge, and Trueflame.

@ZOS_BrianWheeler, I would be interested in your thoughts.

I think they should do away with guest campaigns. One campaign per character. The reason why I say this is, joining a campaign as a guest creates less of a balance.

    Here is an example:

DC players in BwB, get zerged down by AD because AD is over populated at times. DC players cry and then move over to AS making DC on AS over populated.

However, if they could create some kind of population balance in under populated campaigns, i think you should be able to go to any campaign within your alliance.
