Does anyone even know the answer to my question?

What exactly is "emote"? Other than it coming out a pretty lilac colour, I don't yet see what it does.

Say = close proximity
Yell = larger area
Zone = everyone within that load screen
Group = everyone in group
Guild x = everyone in guild x
Whisper = just that one person
Emote = ?????

    I'm pretty sure /emote has the same range as /say. It's used primarily by RPers to describe actions.

    All people see it.

    It's for RP-ers to distinguish an action, which is why it only says your name.
    Example:
    [Phica]: strolls through Grahtwood happily.
    PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!

    Phica -Max CP - Lvl 50 Argonian Sorc Healer since launch

    Pretty much just for RP.

    "Looeeze pokes himself in the eye, then jumps up and down swearing like a lifelong sailor from the pain."

    That sort of thing. The text version of doing /sweep or /bucketsplash. Has a pretty short range on it. About the same as /say I think.
    "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster...when you gaze long into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you..."

    Emote is short for Emotion. In internet terms, an Emote is used to describe one of those smiley faces used in Text Chat, and in-game, an Emote is one of the numerous little Animations you can have your character do, such as dances, poses etc.

    So it can be used for:

    a) literal emoticons like : ) : ( etc..? (obvs without the actual symbol appearing, so : ) rather than :smile: )

    and

    b) in place of using the old ** system like *eats a long taffy treat*?

    Cool cool, thanks guys and gals :smile:

    Can you type /sweep or /bucketsplash and your character does the action? If yes, will it only work using the emote text?

    There are several animations to can make your character do such as those. They will work in any chat channel.

    No, it is not. Emote is a verb that means to take action that depicts an emotional state.

    Emoticon is a coinage based on the already-existing word emote, specifically applied to digital communication.

    So /emote is just that, your character is expressing an action, i.e. he or she is emoting.

    It can also just be used as a different /say. Why? Because lol.

    But on the subject, really wish there was a zone trade channel.
