You can get away with pvp gear, but not much with a pvp build as far as abilities. Does really depend on what your build is though

I am using 5 necropentence and 3 willpower and a random fire staff and lightning staff
fire staff: twilight,force pulse,hardened ward,crystal frag,familar ult is eye of storm

Clannfear is great for VMA. Between the 8% extra health for you and the 35% insta-heal, he is really helpful. And if you keep your Hardened Ward up, he has like 40k effective health and good survivability. And occasionally I'll see him off getting cc'ed by adds and think, "I am glad he is getting cc'ed and not me!"

Double innner light is a minimum requirement normally alongside bound aegis.

I would never suggest it.

The room it takes up becomes less effective then running it.

19.5k HP and 40k Magicka is what I run and I never have issues.

It's something more to worry about than anything else, mages burst things down so fast with priority targeting which is what comes with skill.

If we think about the existing setup for most: froce pulse, crystal frags, wall of elements, bound agies, and inner light.

There is only 1 thing I would sacrifice which would be wall of elements which for me running destro flame maelstrom sharpen is a no go, even when not running a maelstrom staff you're losing out on so much aoe damage it's not funny.

Why to have a clanfear running around getting cc'd and a heal on a sorc...? WTF?

You're healing is so nuts already, the main thing about VMA is to keep as much damage going out and bursting as much as possible clanfear doesn't allow it.

Yes I've tried it and it's not going to get you speed clears or score runs.

Is it fun? Sure.
Is it worth running taking up 2 slots on your bars? Absolutely not.
