MAJOR BUG - Unable to log out on PS4

This is wide spread and a huge issue. The countdown for logging out reaches zero - but never actually logs you out. Closing application and soft reset is the only fix to switch characters.

Lagz✭✭✭going to an insta log out location ( a town with the exception of belkarth) will allow you to log out until there is a fix.0 -

✭Me too - stuck in-game. Mad because now my experience scroll and crown food get wasted. Travelling to Mournhold currently does. Better than having to close then restart game, but only marginally.

raviour✭✭✭✭This has been going on on PC gamepad mode for months, i made a thread here but no response.
It is fine in the busy areas Shornhelm, Wayrest, Rawl'kha, Mournhold etc ... but in cyrodiil, craglorn or in the wilderness I have had to switch back to kb/mouse mode to log out.
Surprised no fix yet tbh especially as they use PC as a test ground for consoles.0 -

Smashington357✭✭✭For real i have 9 characters to log into each day just to collect stuff i'm not even playing right now and if this is the game state when it frustrates me just feeding horses and getting blacksmith mail I don't see myself coming back to buy crown crates anytime soon. You guys messed up the coding so bad that you will actually get long screens wich forces you to close client and log on to another character, then log off to go back to the character you was actually gonna play. But no no. on top of that you cant log out of your character, you need to close your client 1 extra time because you messed that up too.

The fact that i have to close the game application everytime i have to change toons is ruining my disc drive. I had no sound comming from it before now my disc drive is making a louder noise everyday.
I really do not want to buy another ps4, yet if this matter stays unsolved i have to report it to Sony. Please fix i usually do not mind bugs and other things that in time gets resolved. In this case its not my Sony Playstation thats causing this issue if thier is a malfunction.
Also im probably not the only person that is experiencing this problem.
Im concerned about the integrity of Zenimax Online Studios to resolve this urgent matter to save you from consequences in the future that could possibly happen.
Tried resolution of the text chat /logout still doesn't work.

Great you found a fix, unfortunately i do not own a keyboard i own a laptop. And that is not combatable with ps4 settings. I shouldnt have to go out and spend more money on a keyboard just to logout ?
Today i had to close my app around 20 times, and my ps4 disk drive sound is getting louder. I cannot continue to try and play with this.
And its just not logging out is the issue its, multiple things from freezing, getting back and not being able to travel and nothing being on the map, white screens when being in pvp.
Zos keeps putting bandaid fixes on things they will add up and crash the servers and cost zenimax a ton of money. Just saying...
Or this might be a hidden feature to maybe a buy eso keyboard and headset for the game to work properly ? Lol Idk im not buying a keyboard to play something that is not working.

You don't need to close application. Just go to a major city (like Daggerfall, Wayrest etc) and from there, you can logout. It's only when a countdown commences that you can't logout.
That said... the major cities are getting VERY laggy and the instances are so full that frame-rate freezing is commencing due to the amount of people having to visit them just to solely logout...
I agree with you... the problem needs fixing ASAP - but don't shoot down someone trying to offer you a workaround until ZoS patch it up... and again, I agree, they don't seem to put in place proper fixes for anything. A guy posted a GREAT post about Tech Debt a while back - and he explained how poorly this company is functioning on that front... but that's a discussion for another time, and another thread.0 -

Have found how to get /logout to work anywhere on the PS4. I was trying chat box via Options>Social, which didn't work, but bringing up chat by pressing the D pad and the Options button has worked for me on all my 24 characters this morning.
