This is for a stamblade. Quick kills lots of damage, I was thinking maces due to the passive. Is this correct?

Thanks

Actually it's all situational. You'll want maces if you're having lots of trouble against heavy armor builds, which is the majority of cyrodiil at the moment. If you struggle against magic sorcs and their shield stacking, then I recommend swords for the extra damage to burst down their shields. They have very low resistances so maces are useless against them and if you're using surprise attack (applies major breach), and two sharpened weapons, you'll cut right through all their resistance making maces useless and swords shine. Daggers are also great for ganking. Lots of people still don't wear impen like they should.

How many impenetrable pieces should I wear for a good amount of protection? Is infused on big pieces (head, chest, legs) and impenetrable on the small ones (hands, feet, waist, shoulders) a good combo? If an attack does 10-12K damage outside Cyrodiil (crit for 15-18K), battle spirit halves that to 7.5-9K. The crit part is actually 2.5-3K. Putting 10 points in resistant gives you 340 crit resistance. Wearing 4 pieces of impenetrable gives you another 1K. So it's about 1.3K, mitigating about half of the critical extra damage. Wearing another 3 pieces will give you only an extra 700, while sacrificing resource pool size, which is important for doing damage and using your skills.

Daggers are best imo. (for pvp)

With duelwield you have 2 seperate hits with heavy attacks and 2 enchants. Which means the more you crit the more chances everything will crit and deal alot of damage.

For instance if you heavy attack into surprise attack with say viper, thats 5 things that need to crit, so daggers will help achieve that.

Sure you cant crit shields but if you take out the shield, id rather crit then not crit to finish them off.

Also daggers just look cool. B)

Maces are universally a good choice, swords are pretty good, axes are ok but since they fixed the broken bleed effect they are kinda meh, there are some baddies out there without impen but I would avoid daggers for pvp anyway.

Everyone says to not use daggers because of impen and i think thats really a flawed argument. I'm pretty sure there is an impen cap of 50% (which i believe is 3300). That being said you can still increase your critical damage modifier very easily using the shadow mundus and cp. Nightblades also get 10% more critical damage from passives, pretty sure Templars have it as well.

Basically what im getting at is, even with 7 gold impen and 70 points into crit resistance cp (totals to about 3k) your only going to prevent 47%ish of my critical damage. However i have a 2.0X critical damage modifier because of the shadow mundus, nightblade passives and my cp allocation.

I will still deal 50% more damage with my critical hits against someone in full impen. So using Daggers for more critical chance is not that bad.

Also there is the argument you cannot crit shields which is true. However most people do not know that there is overflow damage that can crit if you break a shield. For instance if you have a 5k shield and i hit you with an attack that deals 7.5k damage none crit. 2.5k of that damage has the potenail to critically hit and deal 3.75k (if that enemy have full impen and i have 2.0X multiplier).

You're correct that they provide some benefit, especially to nightblades and templars who have passive crit damage buffs. But the problem with building crit in pvp is more than just impen, like you said damage shields can't be crit. The overflow is nice but I have a hard time justifying relying on that overflow damage and basically getting half value for your crit. And when you factor in all the heavy armor we have running around these days, the armor pen that maces provide, IMO, is far more useful than more crit chance from daggers.

yes you can do more damage against cap impen with crit then with noncrits as a nb, tbs plus archers mind will give you 18% crit damage boost from stealth on a fully impenned opponent, but only 8% out of stealth. also you have a hard cap on wp with this gear of about 3k-3200 depending on what monster pieces you use. to put this in point you would do more damage at the same stats with proc sets, or with sets pushing wp to 6-7k. (which would be about a 50% damage boost over tbs+ archers mind)

Yeah i was just making a point that daggers are not useless. Its not like im prioritizing 1h+s/shielded enemies with this setup, you can kill them, it just takes a different approach. Also i dont have to run tbs or archers mind to obtain a 2.0X crit modifier. I can run agility, clever and another 5 piece with dw. I push 5k wp/32k stam with regen drinks.

I'm not building for a full crit build. You just get more out of shadow mundus then warrior when your stacking so much damage for pvp.

point i was making, crit is pointless in pvp. pvp you want ~3400 impen which is 50% crit damage reduction or at 100% crit damage boost crit = noncrit damage. thus swords would do more for you then daggers as swords raise damage by 5% and daggers only raise crit chance (basically if you hit 10k noncrit, you would hit 20k crit at 100% crit damge then impen would reduce the 20k to 10k (daggers whereas swords would do 10500 damage.

I still want crits against the people who have stacked full impen because I still need to burst them. I simply feel that the 10% crit from daggers outweighs 5% damage from swords with my build OVERALL, especially since I run shadow and a pretty big investment in precise strikes.

Again, even against a player who has maxed 3300 impen, I am still going to get a ~.35 crit multiplier against them. I'm not saying daggers are the best against players who run full impen, but they are not reducing my crit multiplier to zero.

point i was making, crit is pointless in pvp. pvp you want ~3400 impen which is 50% crit damage reduction or at 100% crit damage boost crit = noncrit damage. thus swords would do more for you then daggers as swords raise damage by 5% and daggers only raise crit chance (basically if you hit 10k noncrit, you would hit 20k crit at 100% crit damge then impen would reduce the 20k to 10k (daggers whereas swords would do 10500 damage.

Crit is not pointless in PVP. Maybe a quarter of the people I run into have maxed Impen, most are in the 1000-2000 range, and my crits still blow them up.

You do not get 10% crit from daggers, it is 5%, 2.5% per just like swords for damage increase

hello dude can you fing read? 5% crit for EACH dagger equipped and 2.5% damage for EACH sword this adds up to 10% crit from DUAL WIELDING 2 DAGGERS and 5% damage from DUAL WIELDING 2 SWORDS.

Well now, I really rustled your jimmies didn't I? Lol. I suppose I ought to have done more research, I really can't believe daggers give that much crit, of course it is better then 5% damage increase. Insane that stam gets 10% more crit from that.

for stam users yes, due to crit damage boost. it grants through critting more often. i dont recall if passives for dw have ever changed but i don tthink they have been ever changed so when cp came out it has thrown favor to daggers in pve. that said for new players it doesnt matter which they use, swords or daggers except for nbs until they start putting cp into precise strikes (that said dont immediately put cp into it for all you new players. you want to put cp primarily into mighty first for the mage tree as stamina users.

Temps get a crit hit damage passive too. And you can use the Shadow mundas.

shadow mundus isnt worth it until you above 50% crit without thief.

I usually use thief on my templar because my crit chance is a good bit lower.

I'm still running Shadow on my NB atm with 40% crit chance with a 2her. I simply find the 2-3k extra dmg on my opener (assuming either Ambush or incap crits) to be worth it. It's a little different situation than PVE where you have formulas to determine your average damage and usually end up with thief.
