Blazing Shield Templars are PVP Gods

Maintenance for the week of January 20:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 20

Yeah I know, "the best way to deal with Blazing Shield spammers is to avoid them." But how does a small group of my own go about stopping 5+ blazing shield templars who run together while capturing resources?

It's so much healing + shielding + health + immovability all rolled into a small army of 5+ players.

- Ranged attacks tickle their stacked healing and defense.
- DOTs are useless because they get cleansed.
- Melee attacks... forget about it.
- Magblade bombing is a fruitless suicide mission.
- Siege Weaponry gets cleansed.
- AOE attacks just get walked away from.

Does anyone have a good counter to mini Blazing Shield zergs?

    Typically blazing shield templars have relatively low stamina, so just knock through the stam until you see them not CC break anymore, then root+negate generally puts a dent in them as they just stand there like a deer caught in the headlights.

    yeah just cc them out and do enough Damage over range. Templar need to stand still to hold up there defensive skills.. 1 destroult with negate and the group is nearly destroyed.. Negate and cc is the best counter for magicka Templar..

    5 people with viper velidreth, gap closer at the same time 1 at a time and then spam execute. I'm sure your group had 5ppl using that set up.

    The resource management on these builds are very difficult.

    Locking them down with Icy Rage is a good first step because they have to double tap/dodge roll twice to get out of it. Then let your comrades around you range them down. Oh and also heavy attacks with a resto equipped with resource draining poison. :trollface:

    Yeah, they can't roll dodge a lot.

    I'm still waiting for the day when it's general knowledge that like all but one attack in this game has a longer range than blazing shield, and the pugs then will just attack from outside of it's explosion range.

    Ways to poop on trollplars include:
    • Use mag cost increase poison
    • Use Fasallas/Reverb Bash
    • Use Negate
    • Use Eye of the Tiger
    • Step back and use /sitchair

    Define God? If you mean just standing there and trying to blow people up in melee range with 77k health I would question your definition. They provide very little value other than a distraction like shield stacking dks that take 15-20 people to kill. Just ignore them and move on. Or cc them when shield goes down.

    2 or 3 templars run around popping their shields together... their shields all explode together, which nearly kills just about anyone ever... they have like 70k HP each and are all dropping heals... the high level people who could threaten them know to stay away from them... so they get a trickling of noobs coming at them, relentlessly, feeding them mass amounts of kills...

    Yes, this is an effective strat... How on earth would we ever be able to kill even one of these juggernauts if we weren't able to triple-proc?

    The same way everybody managed to kill trollplars back in Thieves Guild patch, before everybody started relying on procs, lol

    Just remember. That attack didn't actually kill its target. In fact it just killed the user while mildly inconveniencing the target.

    Which is why Telel is in total agreement that is exactly what blazing shield should be capable of.

    And I miss the days of one shotting 24 ppl with Purge.

    It's an embarrassing thing to say, but Snipe/Lethal Arrow is the most effective skill against this tanky meta.
