How many points of Stam is equal to one point of Weapon Damage?

Abilities either scale off stam/weapon damage or mag/spell damage. I was wondering what the ratio of how much of each stat you need for it to have the same effect. So how much stamina do you need to equal one point of weapon damage? How much magika to equal one point of spell damage? Thanks.

Ah okay. So the tower mundus "Increases Maximum Stamina by 1280" compared do the warrior "Increases Weapon Damage by 166" is only slightly less efficent in terms of damage. If my math is correct, it would be worth 124 weapon damage effectively.

Yes, but the theoretical trade off here is that you have a smaller resource pool to work with if you go for weapon damage over stamina.

True, also something to consider is that your light and heavy attacks do not scale with stamina, only weapon damage. Some build types will thus prefer weapon damage over stamina given the choice. Weapon damage, at least in part for this reason (but potentially other factors as well), is preferable in pvp to stamina, while sustain is supplemented predominantly from recovery. In pve, however, recovery is viewed as a dump stat because all competitive content is directly tied to maximum dps.

For pve, and with this in mind, weapon damage would be preferred since it buffs both skills and basic attacks. Stamina would be second in preference for its contribution towards sustain and increased skill efficacy. Recovery would only be used if it was absolutely necessary (and couldn't be provided in some other way, such as from a healer) to avoid going OOS, which would of course be a dps loss.

Now that's VERY interesting @Autolycus I didn't get how the pro/cons worked before and for differing situations.

I'm presuming Magika & SD has similar principles?

Yes, the magicka side of the equation follows the same parameters. It took me quite some time to realize this myself and it felt somewhat like an epiphany lol :)

In the grand scheme of things this isn't some huge ordeal that's going to make or break a build, but for those who like to min/max it's a nice bit of info to have. There are many pvp builds out there that use light/heavy attacks as the bread&butter of damage (usually paired with a couple of dots and maybe an execute on top of the burst), and those builds are probably taking this into account. Sustain in this type of build would be a non-issue most of the time, so going all-in to WD or SD would afford the highest damage potential (along with some CP points too, most likely) without it having a detrimental impact on sustain.
